“These photos were taken during a single autumn morning

and afternoon in Salina Township, 2010—with the sole

intention of sparking a new series.

“I spent time exploring an old equipment graveyard, an

abandoned farmstead that was once raided by the Federal

Government because the man who lived there ran a still, I

went to the edge of the woods where I found stone piles,

and at the end of the day I drove out to the spot in my dad’s

woods where he—with his heavy equipment—is building a

mysterious pyramid of glacial boulders (the cover is a self-

portrait of me on the pyramid).

“These pieces are perfect squares. They are a perfect point

of entry for collectors.”
