Ph.D.positioninSeedBiologyAPh.D.positionisnowavailableinseedbiologyattheUniversityofKentucky,focusingondynamiccellular movement during plant fertilization and seed development. We use advance live-cellimaging technologies and cell marker lines to visualize real-time seed developmental processesoccurringinsidethematernaltissue(Kawashimaetal.2014andKawashimaandBerger,2015).Thestudent will investigate cytoskeleton dynamics and its importance during fertilization and/orendospermdevelopment.Abasicmolecularorcellbiologybackground(knowledgeandexperience)isamust,butbotanybackground isnotrequired.AnM.S.degree isnotrequiredforthisposition,either.Tuition,healthcare,andstipendwillbefullycoveredbythedepartment.TheacceptedapplicantcanbeginthepositionstartinginJanuaryorAugust2017.PleasecontactDr.Tomokazu Kawashima (tomo.k@uky.edu)with a single PDF file including a cover letter describingyour research interest, a CV, and the contact information of at least two referees.
