::Work and Energy::

Work : In physics, work is

defined as • energy transferred

to or from an objects by means of a force acting on the object.

Energy :Is a scalar quantity that describes

• the amount of work that can be performed by a force, an attribute of objects and systems that is subject to a conservation law.

Introduction

In food technology, work is done generally for the transportation or while handling the food machines. For energy, there’s a lot of energy used for food processing, packaging, distribution, preservation and use of safe, nutritious and wholesome food.

Energy used in Food Industry :

Solar EnergyElectromagnetic EnergyChemical EnergyElectrical Energy

Solar Energy

The radiant light and heat that comes from the sun.In food technology, solar energy is important and used for cooking, drying and pasteurization.Basically, a solar cooker work by converting sunlight (sun energy) into heat. The generated heat is what will cook food Solar cookers need to capture sun energy, concentrate it, and retain heat.At night it is not possible to do “solar cooking”

Solar cookers

Electromagnetic Energy

The usage is respect to food safety and nutritional qualityFood irradiation uses gamma rays, X-rays or electron beams that are part of the invisible light wave’s range of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Chemical Energy

Important mostly for fermentation.Energy derived from the oxidation of organic compounds, such as carbohydrates, using an endogenous electron acceptor, which is usually an organic compound.2 kinds of fermentation is *Ethanol fermentation

*Lactic Acid Fermentation

Electrical Energy

The most important energy for food industry.Without this energy, all the food industries cannot be operated. All food industries use electrical energy to operate their machines to produce food and so on.

Food Inspection

Producers inspect food stuffs in the factory to identify and remove defective products and contaminants using a variety of physics-based tools and techniques, including X-rays, lasers and spectroscopy.

Conclusion

As a conclusion, work and energy are highly related to food technology for food processing, packaging, preservation and food distribution. It is important to promote energy used in food industries to integrate knowledge of food processing with capabilities of different energy.
