The 63 Virtus is the new flag-ship for Riva’s open line, a build-type steeped in glamorous history. In thepast Riva owners have included movie stars androyalty, so it’s with some excitement that thosewho follow that sort of thing anticipate exactlywho will spring for this largest of the Riva opens.Whoever does open up their checkbook will begetting a boat that is replete with luxury, goodlooks, and high-performance features. The 63retains the iconic lines of Riva opens of the past, afeat made possible in part by the clever conceal-ment of her cleats and electrical winches andamplified by her aggressively raked arrow-shaped side windows. on the foredeck offers another excellent optionfor lounging. Underway the 63 is as athletic aswould be expected of a boat of her build andpedigree. Twin 1,360-mhp MAN V12s can get herroaring across the sea at 46 mph at WOT ormaintaining a jaunty cruise speed of 40 mph.With lots to entice even the most discerning ofyachtsmen, perhaps the only thing Riva has leftopen to question with the 63 is which A-list celebwill be the first to be spotted aboard one.
