• When the hard cover is installed, the pole tester can be handled from either end.

• KAM Technologies pole tester is 40 in. long, from tip to tip. • Klein pole probe is 15 in. long.

Because the pole probe is only 15 in. long, workers must insert almost the entire length of the probe to test to 6 in. depth.

Workers must also bend all the way over to use the pole probe.

• Workers hold the pole tester at a 45-degree angle, with the tip 6 in. away from the pole, and use their weight to push the tester into the ground.

• The tester has a mark 8.5 in. from the end of the tip to indicate when it has reached 6 in. below ground level.

• Most workers can also use the pole tester with minimal need to bend over.

If the ground is frozen or the pole is standing in water, workers can release the slide hammer and use it to drive the pole tester into the pole.

If the pole tester sticks into a hard pole, workers can use the slide hammer to release the pole tester and remove it in a safe, controlled manner.
