Bio: After 6 years in the industry - as a copywriter at Saatchi & Saatchi in Vienna, a short episode in finance, e7’s youngest creative director in Hamburg, and standing on the shoulders of German ad industry giant, Gerald Heinemann, - I decided to leave advertising. For good.

For Cape Town. For early retirement at the age of 31. Bad idea. So I left the jet set pack and started working as a freelance creative from Cape Town for agencies in Europe. For 12 years. Plus building a South African business with my mentor, Arne Flick, crunched by the effects of the financial crisis around the end of the decade.

Today I’m back in Germany, helping brands and agencies out as a senior creative, part-time for the lovely digital agency PUSHH, part-time as a freelancer. Very happy.

But no rest for the wicked: a New Work experiment is already in the making…

Facebook Business invited us for a pitch to develop a B2B campaign that shifts tone of conversation and positions the Familiy of Apps & Services as a force for growth. We won the pitch with our concept to shift conversation from generic B2B communication to E2B - Emotion to Business.

Concept & Copy for XING’s largest Campaign ever.

The idea: XING is the largest platform for professional networking in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As a mentor for a better working life, XING opens the eyes of all the people who actually want to work and live differently. The German word for actually is ‚Eigentlich‘.

We all have our wishes, dreams and desires that are still dormant cause we don’t dare to claim them. XING opens our eyes to move forward.

XING Projects: Beyond the 2018 campaign I have been involved in a number of other projects, e.g. XING ProJobs, XING Coaches, XING E-Recruiting, NWX Award as well as internal Corporate Presentations.

Internal presentations are obviously confidential, I just want to highlight a few: Kick-off Events, Product Innovations, Board Presentations (German/English).

Once a year, XING stages the largest event around New Work in Germany. I have been involved in the videos presenting the Award Winners 2018.

Trust Impact I: Germany’s leading news magazine contacted us after they had seen our Facebook campaign. A dream job. Because SPIEGEL MEDIA found out that 86% of all readers trust the medium one hundred percent, which is great news for media impact. We called it „Vertrauenswirkung“.

Online Campaign for Germany’s Market Leader for Millennials.

Trust Impact II: Our SPIEGEL campaign lead to another project for bento - Germany’s news & entertainment platform for GenYers. They are facing many clichés that are used to label their lifestyles & attitude. So bento asked us to create a B2B campaign to help marketers understand millennials better.

#NativeNotNaive We presented a hashtag that sums it all up. Unfortunately the term has not made it into execution, but the idea lived on in the copy of the campaign.

Trust Impact III: After our B2B campaigns for SPIEGEL and bento we were invited to our first B2C campaign for SPIEGEL EXPEDITION - a new offspring in the family of SPIEGEL derivatives. The idea was born out of the product itself: this magazine brings expeditions to life; hence our design adventure.
