Beta glucan is glucose monomers connected by glycosidic linkages

• Water soluble fiber of beta glucan

• Also contains insoluble fiber found in Oat

• Has positive effect for LDL cholesterol reduction, diabetes

mellitus Type 2, Cardiovascular hypertension, dll

• Slowing down the sugar absorption after meal

• Insoluble fiber adds mass to the digested products to be

excreted out

• More than100 scientific papers on Oat Beta Glucan

MECHANISM EXPLANATION

Barrier against food-cholesterol

from being absorbed

Food supplies 20% of cholesterol

Avoiding cholesterol degradation

product (bile acid) from re-

absorption

Bile acid is a degradation product of

cholesterol. Bile acid and cholesterol are

delivered to the intestine to be re-

absorbed. Beta-glucan binds to this

complexes then remove them all.

Removing blood cholesterol from

the circulation

Because the beta-glucan/cholesterol/bile

acid complexes have been removed then

the cholesterol is further taken from the

blood to be processed in the gall resulting

in the low blood cholesterolSource : Heart UK, The Cholesterol Charity
