A dowry (known as jahez) is the money, goods, or estate that a woman brings to her husband in marriage.

A NUMBER OF RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS LIKE SHEIKH MUHAMMAD IBN IBRAHEEM, AL NAWAWI, UMAR IBN AL KHATTAB etc. HAD ISSUED FATWAS IN THIS MATTER
