FEASIBILITY STUDY
TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY
This project at FJWU is technically feasible
because biotechnology is the need of time .At
present there is only one public sector
university in Rawalpindi (University Of Arid
Agriculture) which is offering masters and
graduation in biotechnology. There are very
few fields for premedical students and there are
a large number of candidates. Some private
university are also offering masters and
graduation in biotechnology but they are too
much expensive and cannot be affordable by
common people .FJWU is providing an
opportunity to be a graduate in biotechnology
at a low cost on merit bases.
SOCIAL FEASIBILITY
The project is socially feasible because there
are a large number of girls who want to get
education in the biotechnology but they are
unable due to the social custom because their
parents feel in secure for getting them admitted
in any coeducation university. FJ WU is the
one and very affordable university and it can
provide a chance for the girls who are
restricted by their families to get education in
biotechnology.

TERM FEASIBILITY In long term, introduction of biotechnology
department will serve as a great asset for
Pakistan as it will produce 25 graduates every
year.
COMMERCIAL FEASIBILITY
There is not so much expense on building
because we have required place in
environmental sciences department and we will
utilize that space for biotechnology. We need
to hire faculty and there we will be need of
biotechnology labs and infrastructure for lab.
OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY
There is need to provide quality education for
females of Pakistan so that they may become
the competent citizen of Pakistan and help in
economic growth of Pakistan. As our project is
meeting with the goals and mission of FJWU
so it is operationally feasible. It will produce
specialize graduate which will help in the
development of society and economy of
Pakistan.

The consequences of man's growing power over human genetics are enormous, and they
become ever more immediate each day. Many observers have suggested that just as the late 20th
century has been the age of computer technology, so the early 21st century will be the age of
biotechnology. There is a need of Biotechnology Department in Fatima Jinnah Women
University because it has large, highly profitable, modern, industrial means of great value to
society. This is the only Government University which is offering education to females. There
are many private universities in different cities of Pakistan, offering this course but at very high
cost which is not affordable by most of members of the society.

RISK ANALYSIS, STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS AND
QUESTIONNAIRE ANALYSIS
14PROJECT OF OPENING A DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AT FATIMA JINNAH WOMEN UNIVERSITY
RISK ANALYSIS
RISK INVOLVE IN OPENING A NEW DEPARTMENT OF BIO TECHNOLOGY IN UNIVERSITY:
Number of Applicants for Admissions
There is great risk of the enrolment in a new
department. Because there are less chances of
awareness in students.
As there are other universities offering the same
course so the competition is very high.
Availability of Appropriately Trained
Faculty
As the faculty is somewhat available in the
department so we only need seven to eight more
professors of biotechnology.
The competition is high so the trained faculty of
biotechnology will less likely to work in a newly
opened department because the competitor may
offer them high salary packages and other
facilities
Another important reason for unavailability of
trained faculty might be that they felt less job
security.
Managing the Cost of Project .
Phasing the project development and continually
testing the scope against available funding and
changes in a dynamic construction market will be
15PROJECT OF OPENING A DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AT FATIMA JINNAH WOMEN UNIVERSITY
a key to the success of this project.
Non Availability of Financing Facility.
The non-availability of finance facility will delay
the project further and will cause the capital cost
to go up
As the financer is government who is issuing the
funds so government can issue limited funds. If
government issue funds later for new department
than the project might get failed.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BIOTECHNOLOGY:
Biotechnology can be viewed as a group of useful, enabling technologies with wide and diverse
applications; almost in all fields it has great positive impact.
From survey it also declares that Mostly students know about the importance and significance of
biotechnology that can be understood by the fact that its development has been associated with
almost every field. The biodiversities are huge and thus the applications of technology to these
biodiversities are also huge. The developments made in these sphere is basically for the benefit
of mankind through these biodiversities and In coming years, our potential to improve medicine
and health care will be greatly enhanced by the new ideas of these fresh graduates. By consulting
personalized medical profiles, doctors will be able to identify genetic risks for chronic illnesses
and tailor their medical advice to individual patients.
In Pakistan it is also very necessary to promote it in agriculture field because mostly the
economy of Pakistan is based on agriculture. So, Biotechnology is implemented to help study
and detect problems with everything from soil to air that can affect the products being produced
from farming and other industries.
So the opening of biotech department is very necessary and need of the time:
1. To provide the educational opportunities to students for preparing them to pursue
higher studies for the development of their career in bio-industries.
2. For Enhancement of professional practices for bio-industries through industrial visits
as well as interactions.
3. To promoting biotechnological industries and related organizations to address their
problems by providing consultancy services.
4. Enhance innovative activities in biotechnology and promote scientific publications
and intellectual property.
