Collection Red announces the artists taking part in their latest exhibition that explores the

idea that ‘the past makes you who you are’. Through the various artists’ connections to their world, their ethnic roots, their past and childhood they display the rich and varied cultural traditions of the former Soviet states.

‘Prologue’ aims to combine Collection Red’s repertoire with the work of renowned iconographer Irina Bradley. Bradley joins this themed exhibition with her unique collection of religious icons, deeply rooted in ancient Russia and the precise Orthodox guidelines of her faith. Curator, Irina Karatcheva, sets out the theme of the collection, “Is the past simply a completed phase of our life, or is it a grain of culture, a way of thinking, part of our traditions and morals which need to be preserved? Perhaps, the past is an entire world which accurately communicates with the artist in their present reality? This is what I wish to explore through the works of Collection Red artists.”

Following the success of the first exhibition, ‘Prologue’ is to be staged January 2013 in association with the representative offices of the Rossotrudnichstvo in central London which works closely with the Russian embassy.

Some of the artists, including Irina Bradley, will also be attending the opening of the exhibition and will be available to discuss their work and individual pieces
