WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS OF MEP?

Qualify for Express stream

Good in performing and creating music

Keen interest and willingness to commit to four

years of in-depth study in Music

Have attained the following qualifications:

a pass in Grade Three Practical and Theory/Practical

Musicianship exams of the ABRSM or the equivalent

standard from other exam boardsOR in the absence of the above qualifications,

a pass in both the Selection Test and Practical Audition

on an instrument (e.g. piano, rebab, erhu, sitar)

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS OF MEP?

Students have to sit for the MEP Selection Exercise if

i. They are applying for the MEP Centres; ORii. Demand exceeds the number of MEP places available in

MEP schools

The Selection Exercise comprises the following:

Music Listening and Analysis Music Theory

Practical Audition (2 contrasting pieces on an

instrument/voice in any style of a total duration of 5 min)

Interview

Students need not sit for GCE ‘O’ Level examination and can progress to JC 1 and 2

Students will sit for GCE “A’ Level examination or International Baccalaureate (IB) at Year 6

Only some schools offer IP (eg SJI, RI, MGS, ACS(I), HCI, Dunman High, NJC etc)

• Admission criteria will be decided by respective participating schools

• Successful DSA-Sec students will not be allowed to participate in the S1 posting exercise, no matter how well the student has performed during PSLE

• Students are not allowed to transfer to another school after the release of PSLE results
