Transport planning
• Traffic is caused by the geographical separation of functions.
• Large flows of traffic are generated by concentrations of functions and high densities.
• Public transport needs large flows to be operated economically.
Traffic policy
This is what we wish to achieve: - Decrease the growth in traffic- The greatest part of the growth in traffic replaced by public transport- Reduce the environmental issues caused by traffic- Shield the City Center from unwanted pressure from traffic- Build a coherent pedestrian and bicycle road system- Reduce the number of traffic accidents
Integrated planning
Planning agreements between municipalities
• Location policyo Offices only at railway stationso Concentration of housing at public transport
stopso Bicycle routes to schools
• Park&Ride • Bicycle parking at railway stations and public
transport stops• Traffic safety in residential areas• Upgrading of tram system to light rail• Categorisation of roads

ScheduleUse opportunities at stations and along PT lines• Improve accessibility• Improve quality of location• Cooperation region - municipalities• Integrated planning
– New developments along existing railway or HQPT lines bring about new passengers
– This leads to higher frequencies and higher value of the area around the stations
