III. Current Status and Issues(1)
RCA Regional Profile – January 2010 - More Assistance requested in the awareness and promotion of the technologies to aware of nuclear technologies and their advantages to stakeholders
RCARO has been doing successfully its activities for promoting RCA’s Awareness and would continue current activities such as publication of success story, promotion video, presentation in interna-
tional meetings and exhibition events.
Activities on the RCA’s Awareness
Nuclear Knowledge Preservation Programmes
RCARO could take actions properly in response to increasing demand from Member States in step by step manner.
RCA Regional Office15
III. Current Status and Issues(2)
Partnership Promotion Activities Results of RCARO workshop in July 2009. - It is difficult to develop partnership projects with novel application of nuclear techniques other than the RCA projects. - RCARO continue to investigate potential funding source for partnership development and could consider outsourcing of promotional experts for partnership development. - RCARO will focus on the feasibilities of expanding the application of RCA project results and further development of the RCA projects.
Major Issues(examples) - Lack of information and experiences, no mechanism and promotional experts to develop partnership projects in strategic manner. - Difficulty in meeting RCA criteria and those of potential partners, utilization of nuclear techniques and no overlapping with RCA projects

III. Current Status and Issues(3)
New Demand for supporting RCA Programme Activities
RCA Projects are core and important activities in RCA programme. But RCARO has not participated in RCA projects and may have to ex-plore the ways to support RCA-FP and to participate in RCA projects.
During the 32nd NRM in April 2010, Member States suggested RCARO’s roles ; - In effective transmission of information of RCA programme to MSs
- Improving awareness of NPCs on RCA policy matters during progress and review meeting of RCA projects - Participation in RCA project meeting
RCA Regional Office17
IV. Future Directions(1)
Situation of RCA System to be considered- Year by year change of RCA Chair - Change of National Representative and experts involved in member States- RCA –FP‘s heavy workload with less available supporting staffs in IAEA-TCAP, recruitment of new RCA –FP this year - Long time planning and implementation of RCA projects
Collaboration and cooperation with RCA-FP and MSs in the role to be considered- Transmission of information of RCA programme and projects to MSs
- Improving awareness of NPCs on RCA policy matters during progress and review meeting of RCA projects - Participation in project meeting(such as MTS, program formulation, project planning, designing, implementation, assessment) - Post management of finished RCA projects
RCA Regional Office1818
Step by step extending of RCARO ‘s role and activities with recommended prioritization - but keeping given RCARO’s mandates and activities - considering manpower capacity and resources available
IV. Future Directions(2)
Approaching Strategies
In short term, supporting RCA-FP in facilitation of RCA projects meeting and depository function of project and meeting documents by RCA homepage
In long term, establish the share of roles and responsibilities in supporting RCA-FP as the regional office for RCA programme.
