Term 2 Week 10 4 July 2019
STUDENT LEADERSHIP DAY AT RTHS
Last Wednesday, two of our school leaders went to Rutherford Technology High School to participate in a leadership day with other primary students. Amira and Jace represented our school wonderfully, despite being a little nervous when they had to present their plan and ideas about reducing waste in our school environment. Miss Catherine, who accompanied them, spoke highly of their respect, responsibility and personal best throughout the day. She was extremely proud of them, especially when they had to support one another when addressing the entire group.
Congratulations, Amira and Jace! You are terrific ambassadors for Greta PS.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
It’s crazy to think that we are now half way through another school year. Student reports will be sent home tomorrow and Years 1-6 will be holding parent/teacher interviews at the beginning of next term. Information on how to book a time will come home to you during the first week of Term 3. I would like to thank the teachers who spent an enormous amount of hours writing their reports. They are not something that can be finished in one day, or even a weekend. I’m sure you will join with me in thanking them for their ongoing dedication and professionalism. A little reminder that Share our Space is not taking place during this holiday break. This is due to the major external works which have started on our heritage building. We are fortunate that the work will be done in the next two weeks to avoid any disruption to our classes. Have a wonderful break, please stay safe and well. We look forward to seeing you all back on Tuesday 23rd July. Mrs Sharon Morris Principal

Positive Behaviour Learning
After a busy term our PBL focus over the last two weeks has been revision of areas within the school that students use on a daily basis - the toilets and eating time under the COLA. We have discussed and modelled the behaviours that we expect of all students when using these areas and have awarded ‘geckos’ for students showing respect, responsibility and personal best. On Tuesday afternoon, students participated in our second whole school reward ‘Golden Hour’. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including diamond cricket, games, Lego, Just Dance, computers, colouring in, craft, painting and robotics. All students had a wonderful afternoon and it was a great way to finish the term.

Athletics Carnival On Friday 28th June, the rainy weather held off and all students participated in our K-6 Athletics Carnival. The day was a beautiful, sunny day filled with fun, laughter and sportsmanship. The day started with our 800m races in which our students showed determination and endurance.
Our K-2 students then participated in their 70m races before heading off to complete their tabloid activities. Our 3-6 students then rotated around 7 different activities led by RTHS students while our qualifying students participated in field events managed by Branxton Little Athletics. We were lucky to be served yummy meat and gravy rolls for lunch kindly prepared by our P&C before heading off to our last couple of rotations.
The day was a huge success and allowed our students to demonstrate their athletic talents. Notes for Zone Athletics will be sent home this week with Zone Athletics being held on Friday 2nd August at Woodberry Sports Oval.
