Resume Building (Using the Career Transitions Database)

1. Go to www.sfpl.org 2. Go to the “eLibrary” tab and choose “Articles and

Databases”.

3. Click on the arrow in the “Database Category” box and choose “Jobs & Careers”.

4. Click on “Career Transitions (Gale)”.

5. You will be asked to enter your library card number and PIN. Your library card number is the 14-digit number at the back of your library card. If you forgot your PIN, please see a staff member at the circulation desk.

6. Once you are in “Career Transitions”, click on “create an account”. Creating an account will allow you to save your work and make revisions later.

7. Enter a “username” and “password” and check the box labeled “I accept the Terms And Conditions below”. Click on the “Create My Account” button.

8. To start building your resume, click on “Write a Resume”.

9. Click on “Build Resume” to start writing your resume.

10. Start filling in the Resume Building Form. Click on the different tabs on the right-hand column to move to a different section. When you are finished, click on the “Preview & Download Resume” button to download your finished resume.

11. You can choose to download or print your resume.

12. Click on the “Resume Examples” tab to look for sample resumes based on career field and experience level.
