A brief summary of ongoing research work in the department
Bacterial systematics: District Jaunpur of Uttar Pradesh state is well known for production of Giant Newar
variety of Radish, which is almost endangered presently. We have conducted the initial isolation and
characterization of plant growth promoting Rhizobacterial strains (morphological, biochemical &
molecular). To test the hypothesis that bacteria may be involved for large size of radish, detail
investigation is required. Hence, we are trying for proper characterization of bacterial population by using
polyphasic approach and any signal transduction mechanism involved in the phenomenon.
