Course Description
This one-day symposium is designed for medical oncologist, general surgeons, and other health care professionals as a review of recent advances in breast cancer diagnosis and treatments. A guest lecturer and the Indiana University School of Medicine faculty in the field of breast cancer will share their expertise with course participants on a variety of topics relating to the care and treatment of cancer patients.
Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:• Describe and explain how NSABP and ACOSOG
trials support validity of post-neoadjuvant sentinel node biopsy;
• Distinguish when Taxane/trastuzumab is applicable as a first-line therapy of HER2+ metastatic diagnosis;
• Recognize and explain the importance of primary prevention measures, such as healthy diet and exer-cise, in the survivorship continuum; and
• Examine how the use of mTOR inhibition and exemestame may extend benefit of hormone therapy.
