Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how heappealstoGodagainstIsrael?3“Lord,theyhavekilledyourprophets,theyhave demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seekmy life.”4ButwhatisGod’sreplytohim?“IhavekeptformyselfseventhousandmenwhohavenotbowedthekneetoBaal.”5Sotooatthepresenttimethereisaremnant,chosenbygrace.6Butifitisbygrace,itisnolongeronthebasisofworks;otherwisegracewouldnolongerbegrace.

Romans 11:17-24But if some of the brancheswere broken off, and you,although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and nowshareinthenourishingrootoftheolivetree,18donotbearroganttowardthebranches. Ifyouare,remember it isnotyouwhosupporttheroot,buttherootthatsupportsyou.19Thenyouwillsay,“BrancheswerebrokenoffsothatImightbegraftedin.”20Thatistrue.Theywerebrokenoffbecauseoftheirunbelief,butyoustandfastthroughfaith.Sodonotbecomeproud,but fear. 21For if God did not spare the natural branches, neitherwill hespareyou.22NotethenthekindnessandtheseverityofGod:severitytowardthosewhohavefallen,butGod’skindnesstoyou,providedyoucontinueinhiskindness.Otherwiseyou toowillbe cutoff. 23Andeven they, if theydonotcontinue in theirunbelief,willbegrafted in, forGodhas thepower tograft them in again. 24For if youwere cut fromwhat is by nature awildolivetree,andgrafted,contrarytonature,intoacultivatedolivetree,howmuchmorewillthese,thenaturalbranches,begraftedbackintotheirownolivetree.

Ø AS A REMNANT WE HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO BRING LIFE

Romans11:25-2725 Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; 27 “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”
