In 1964, a small family-owned business opened its doors in Amsterdam, NY. Alpin Haus started as a ski shop with one full time employee and a handful of helpers.
Over the next 55 years, we’ve grown into two locations, all while continuing to be your local family-owned business who is ready to assist in all of your winter sports needs.
In 2019 we expanded our Ski Shop capabilities with an automated Wintersteiger Mercury tuning machine, allowing to better service our Customers with precision tuning on every pair of skis and snowboard.
Being one of the largest ski shops in New York State, we carry a very large collection of apparel to match. With over 30 brands available, we
have you covered from head-to-toe to ensure you’re comfortable on the slopes.
Whether you’re a beginner or veteran skier or snowboarder, Alpin Haus has the perfect match for you! Come into either of our locations for instructive information and expert guidance on which snowboard is the best fit for you.

This coming winter has the potential to be one of the better snowfall seasons on record in recent memory! With a lack of precipitation over the past several months, this sets skiers and riders up for those perfect snowy days. Whether you plan to be on the mountain skiing/riding, snowshoeing in your backyard, or in the parks and golf courses cross-country skiing, at Alpin Haus we’re prepared more than ever to be able to fulfill your winter activity needs. Where do you plan to be when the snow falls?
Given that this year is especially different than most, people are coming to us looking at getting back into skiing or starting new hobbies they can do outside like snowshoeing and cross country skiing. We have answered more questions and DM’s this year from people who are looking to get back outdoors, who may not have been able to as regularly due to prior commitments with sports, vacations, or work schedules. We’re thankful that you come to us for guidance and support when you’re looking to enjoy your recreational time with your family!
We have taken every precaution to ensure the safety of our Customers and our team so you can shop with confidence this winter. For the upcoming season, we’re offering appointment-based ski and snowboard fittings, socially-distant seating for boot fittings, hand sanitizer throughout our stores, and sanitizing procedures for all of our products to ensure everything is ready for someone to try it on. You’ll see that all of our team members are wearing masks and even face shields when fitting you for your boots. We will also be continuing our Curbside Pickup for any services and products through the winter for your convenience.
We know that a daily retreat to your favorite local ski mountain on the weekend could become more important given the potential that travel plans may have changed. Both of our Ski Shops are still offering the 5 and Under Ski-for-Free Program along with our junior and adult seasonal rentals. While these programs are in high demand, we’re confident that we’ll be able to outfit everyone who has scheduled a fitting. Having rental equipment that you can call your own, and is exclusively used by you all season long makes skiing safer, enjoyable, and ultimately more convenient when you make your trip to the mountain. We’ve also re-evaluated our tuning services to better serve you in a more timely manner.
If you’re planning to gear up your family for winter, we will be hosting a special holiday pricing event starting Monday, November 2nd through Sunday, November 15th. Our goal is to allow as many people, families, and winter enthusiasts to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing as much as we do. We hope to see you in our Ski Shops so we can help make this winter memorable – Enjoy the season!
