I. Office Practicum
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a training course applying new and previously developed office skills, abilities
and values in actual training. It also involves classroom instruction characterized by a
review of general office procedures and application through job exercises. Moreover,
sample cases on making decisions and solving problems are discussed.
The highlight of the course in an on-the-job training in an office for 200 hours.
Objectives of the Program
1. Provide employable skills, competencies and work attitudes that will meet
manpower requirements of educational institutions and business for social
economic development.
2. Keep abreast with technological changes affecting lifestyle and workplace to
produce globally competitive graduates.
3. Strengthen research skills to open new line of inquiry and maintain intellectual
leadership in business teacher education.
4. Forster closer ties with community and improves the quality of life of its
residents.
5. Strengthen the values system and enhance aesthetic appreciation of historical and
cultural heritage of the Filipinos.
Course Objectives
General
Prepare for tomorrow’s office by applying the general office procedures in a more realistic
approach.
Specific
1. Recognize the wide range of opportunities for advancement in office work in
preparation for job hunting.
2. Apply previously learned skills and knowledge in actual on-the-job training.
3. Integrate previous learning to the level of competencies required to meet business
standards.
4. Discharge effectively the duties of the secretary in taking down minutes of
meeting.
5. Exhibit the ability to coordinate satisfactorily all occupational training in an
office job.
6. Write application letters effectively.
Values Aims
1. Develop desirable personality traits essential for success as office professionals-
personal hygiene, proper posture and poise.
2. Build character traits such as: love for work, patience, loyalty, sense of
responsibility, cooperation, punctuality, etc.

II. Training Station
A. History
Department of Agrarian Reform is the lead implementing agency of Comprehensive Agrarian
Reform Program (CARP). It undertakes land tenure improvement and development of program
beneficiaries. DAR conducts land survey in resettlement areas. It undertakes land acquisition and
distribution and land management studies. The DAR also orchestrates the delivery of support
services to farmer-beneficiaries and promotes the development of viable agrarian reform
communities.
The DAR logo shows the Department's acronym representing the institution and its role
as the lead agency in the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program
(CARP). The sun radiates its light into the field of green divided into 12c segments representing
the original 12 regions covered by the program. Green stands for fertility and productivity while
yellow represents hope and a golden harvest of agrarian reform beneficiaries who are the
recipients of the services provided by the Department via CARP. Both colors imply that
economic growth and sound rural development can be achieved through agrarian reform.
M a n d a t e
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) leads the implementation of the Comprehensive
Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) through land tenure improvement, agrarian justice, and
coordinated delivery of essential support services to client-beneficiaries.

"To lead in the implementation of agrarian reform and sustainable rural development in the
countryside through land tenure improvement and provision of integrated development services
to landless farmers, farmworkers and small landowner-cultivators, and the delivery of agrarian
justice".

"A nation where there is equitable land ownership and empowered agrarian reform beneficiaries
who are effectively managing their economic and social development for a better quality of life".
B. Organization
Bureau Of Agrarian Legal Assistance-Legislative Research and Statistical Division (BALA-
LRSD) is the organization inferred to assist in legal research to improve the implementing of the
Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and making an statistical research of how
many legal assistance in each region to be conducted.

D. Rules And Regulations
Attendance
-Schedule
You will choose your schedule, you must obey it.
-Late
You choose your own working time, you must follow it. 1minute late is the same with
1hour late.
-Under Time
You must inform the trainer/supervisor/officemates if you will take under time.
-Absences
If you were absent, the time for that day will deduct to your time.
-Excused Early Out.
Just like in Under Time, you must inform the trainer/supervisor/officemates if you will
early to out.
Office Decorum
-Dress Code
Each day have a proper color coding. These are the color coding for each day as follows:
Monday-White Thursday-Blue
Tuesday-Green Friday-Any Color
Wednesday-Yellow
-Wearing IDs
You must wear your ID at all time.
-Breaktime
You must take your break at 12:00nn until 1:00pm
-Trainer-Trainee Relationship
You must obey your trainer if he/she gives any instructions to you.
Submission of Accomplishment Reports(frequency, schedule of submission, signing
authority)
You must pass an accomplishment report every end of the month with a signature of the
chief of staff or employee in charge. So that the coordinator will know what you are doing in the
office.
III. Overall Experience in the Performance of the job.
A. Handling calls
B. Typing, Encoding, Recording
Encode a statistical data. Record the legal assistance, budget, legal opinion given, and related information in each region.
Assist in filing the legal opinions, memorandum circulars, and administrative orders in their
respective cases.
C. Messengerial Job
Record in the log book the outgoing documents and deliver it to their respective destination(s).
D. Handling Visitors
Giving chair to the visitors and lead them to the Chief of Staff of the office.
E. Others.
Assist in returning the tables, chairs, and the computers in their respective places after the
Christmas Party.
Assist in putting a Christmas decorations.
Put a gallon of water to the water dispenser.
IV. Problems Encountered to:
A. Dealing with Supervisors
in most cases, I’m not been anger of my supervisor. Because my work are good But there
are times that I’ve indignant of my supervisor.
B. Dealing with Co-office Workers.
In dealing with my Co-office Workers, there is no problem because our relationship to
each other is good. If there are occasions, as early as one week, we talk about it.

VI. Recommendation for the improvement of the program…..
Their program is good but need some improvements. For example they must ensure that the
trainee must learn from their program (I’m not saying that I not learn from their program), they
must also ensure that the trainee understand what is the purpose why they are taking training in
the office. But having training in their station is one of the most rewarding experiences for me.
