President’s Message from SCA President Steve Moore, PE, CASp

The SCA & “Hitting For The Cycle”!

“Hitting for the cycle” is a term used to describe a very rare occurrence in baseball where a player hits a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game! It is usually the highlight of ESPN’s daily Top 10. Well, looking back at the last four months starting in April with Workplace Violence, moving into May with the golf tournament, continuing on in June with the Mayahuel mixer, and hitting it out of the park with the River Cats, I would have to say the SCA has “hit for the cycle”!Friday, July 26th was the SCA’s annual Family Night at the River Cats event and it was once again a success. We had 33 people show up for the game in close to 100o weather! We were in the Solon Club at the upper deck along the 1st base line to wit-ness the River Cats beat the Tacoma Raniers 16-3! There were at least three home runs hit and plenty of foul balls to keep our group on their toes. A huge THANK YOU to Jim McCurley and Jason Kettlehut for making this event happen. It is always a fun and memorable event! As Bruce Buffer would say, “IT’S TIME!” for CCNC! The annual event is once again at Squaw Valley and looks to be even more successful than last year, if that’s possible! The education tracts quickly filled back in April and I don’t believe there has been a single room available since May! As usual the SCA is a sponsoring association for the CCNC, and I ex-pect to see a lot of our Members there! Please don’t hesitate to come up and say hello if you see me. It is a great opportunity to discuss the SCA and possibly your future involvement with the Board of Directors!

to right field. The River Cats really never looked back. Ta-coma scored one in the second, but the Cats answered back with two more in the third, then four runs each in the fourth and fifth. In the end, it was a route, with the River Cats pounding out 18 runs to just 3 for the Rainiers. The game ran more than three hours, but im-mediately following was an impressive fire-works show.Everyone on hand had a great time, with some good quality social interaction.
