SACRED HEART PARISH CENSUS: This fall
we will undertake the BIG task of updating our da-
tabase of all our parishioners. It has been a long
time since we reviewed our contact information for
our members and we know that effective communi-
cation is critical for us to function well as a Catholic
Community. If you have moved or changed phone
numbers or e-mail addresses, we want to hear from
you! You can be proactive and contact Carol Guen-
ther with your updated information (425-450-3910
or cguenther@sacredheart.org) or you can wait for
us to contact you later this Fall. This information
will help our staff be more productive and will help
all of us have a clearer picture of our unique parish
community. Thanks for your cooperation.

FROM THE PASTOR CHECK MAILED TO ST. JEAN VIANNEY IN BA-
TON ROUGE —I mailed a check to Father Tom Ran-
zino, pastor at St. Jean Vianney in Baton Rouge, for
flood relief for parishioners. The total amount collected
was $12,370.55 (including $5000 from our Parish Giv-
ing Fund). Thank you for your generosity in supporting
Father Tom and his parishioners. See their parish web-
site for more information: www.stjeanvianney.org.
Please continue to pray for the Baton Rouge flood vic-
tims.
INFORMATION AND MINISTRY FAIRS
BEGIN—I encourage everyone to visit the Information
and Ministry Fairs over these next four weekends. There
will be information on various parish ministries as well
as other opportunities outside of our parish to offer your
time and talent. Remember we are asking each parish-
ioner to choose at least one ministry/service to partici-
pate in this year. Let us continue to work together to build up the King-dom of God here at Sacred Heart.
FEAST OF THE EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS
“God sent his Son into the world so that we might re-ceive life and salvation. On the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross we proclaim the Good News that God transforms suffering and death into new life. Our God is a God of victory who reigns victorious, even over the evil of death. As Christians, we rejoice in the mystery of the Cross, which brings about our freedom, salvation, and life.” (2016 Sourcebook for Sundays, Seasons, and Weekdays, 289)
Pope Francis has asked churches throughout the world to make this year’s celebration of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross significant since we are celebrating the Ex-traordinary Holy Year of Mercy. We will celebrate this great feast at 8 AM on Wednesday.
REQUEST FOR PRAYERS
If you would like to have someone who is ill or de-
ceased remembered in the Prayers of the Faithful at
Mass, call the Parish Office with your request.
5 PM YOUTH MASS RESUMES THIS SUNDAY The Sunday 5 PM Youth Mass will resume on Sunday, September 11. This Mass is for our parish youth and their families to help support “a vibrant youth faith community” at Sacred Heart (see Goal IV in Hearts on Fire). Invite one of our parish youth in middle school or high school to come and participate in this Mass and meet other youth from our parish.
PRAYER FOR FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY
OF 9/11 On the tenth anniversary of 9/11, the American bishops
said: “We resolve today and always to reject hatred and
resist terrorism. The greatest resource we have in these
struggles is faith. Ten years ago our Conference of Bish-
ops issued a Pastoral Message, Living with Faith and Hope
after September 11, which drew on the rich resources of
our Catholic faith to minister to our nation and world. The
truth of that Pastoral Message still resonates today. We
remain resolved to reject extreme ideologies that perverse-
ly misuse religion to justify indefensible attacks on inno-
cent civilians, to embrace persons of all religions, includ-
ing our Muslim neighbors, and to welcome refugees seek-
ing safety. We steadfastly refrain from blaming the many
for the actions of a few and insist that security needs can
be reconciled with our immigrant heritage without com-
promising either one. (A Time for Remembrance, Resolve
and Renewal: Statement on the Tenth Anniversary of 9/11) This weekend as we remember the tragedy of 9/11, let us pray for the Church, that we may continue to provide care and healing for all, especially those affected by the attacks on September 11, 2001.
FUNERAL MASS FOR BETTY JOHNDREW There will be a Funeral Mass for Betty Johndrew on Thursday, September 15, at 11 AM followed by a lunch-eon reception in the narthex.

ers! I would be thrilled to work with you to discuss your particular grade level, details about our admissions process,

Administration & Stewardship
PARISH ELECTRONIC GIVING CHANGES
Thank you for your faithful support of our parish and its ever-expanding ministries and
services. It is because of your consistent sacrifice and support that we have been able to
reach out and serve so many in our community.
If you currently donate by credit card, electronic funds transfer (EFT) or online giving
through our parish website, sacredheart.org/parish, please be advised that we are in the
process of changing our donation processing vendor from Vanco to Our Sunday Visitor
(OSV). The “Donate Now” link on our website will point to the new vendor beginning
September 1, 2016.
If you currently give online, have recurring credit card payments or EFTs from your
bank account and would like to manage your own account starting September 1, please
contact Christine Kerr at the parish office. Managing your own account enables you to
update contribution information including account numbers, frequency, amounts and
which funds you would like to contribute to such as Stewardship, St. Vincent de Paul,
School Annual Fund, etc. If you would prefer to have the parish office continue to man-
age your electronic giving, we are happy to do that as well. Again, contact Christine
Kerr to let us know.
If you are interested in signing up and creating a new account, you can contact Christine
Kerr prior to September 1. After September 1, you can sign up and create a new ac-
count directly from the OSV link on our website.
If you have any questions about the process, or managing your own account, please con-
tact Christine Kerr at 425-454-9536, ext. 109 or ckerr@sacredheart.org. Thank you for
your continued stewardship of time, talent and treasure in support of Sacred Heart.

CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT SPECIAL COLLECTION Next weekend’s collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)
needs your help. CCHD was founded to end the cycle of poverty in the United States by
funding organizations that help individuals help themselves. With the tradition of im-
proving education, housing situations, and community economic development, CCHD
continues to make a positive impact in communities nationwide.
Your contribution will defend human dignity and reach out to those living on the mar-
gins. Please give to the CCHD collection using the special collection envelope found in
this month’s offering envelope packet. Extra envelopes are attached to the special insert
in today’s bulletin. You can also donate online through our parish website, sacredheart.org. To assist our transfer of
these funds, please make your check payable to Sacred Heart Parish. This collection is one of several special collections
taken up each year at Sacred Heart. It is an opportunity to give from the “other half” of your financial stewardship, the
percentage set aside for other charities of your choice.
