70% in favour. In agreement but against timetabled HWB and PE as core for all. Liked the idea of Learning for Life enrichment column.
Supportive but would like the school to scrutinise added value of enrichment element and report annually to Parent Council regarding the approach.
S5 Experience
• Pupils will undertake a range of Access, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Higher one year courses in session 2013 – 2014.
• All pupils will study English for a minimum of 5 periods each week. Pupils studying Higher English will be allocated 6 periods each week.
• All pupils will choose at least 4 additional courses. Pupils studying Higher Maths will be allocated 6 periods each week. Pupils who are not studying English and Maths at Higher level will have the opportunity to study up to 5 additional courses.
S5 Experience
• All courses will be allocated a minimum of 5 periods each week.
• All pupils will experience 2 periods of RE and most 1 period of HWB each week.
• Pupils will be timetabled with a teacher for every period. Pupils who choose an enrichment column will select from a range of Learning for Life experiences which will vary from column to column. This choice will be determined by the range of staff timetabled. There may be scope for rotation of pupil groups within each column during the course of the session.

Education Maintenance Allowance• An Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a
government initiative aimed at helping your child stay on in education. Your child may be eligible for an EMA if you are aged 16-19 and attend a West Dunbartonshire school.
• An EMA entitles you to up to £30 a week. The amount depends on your parents income.
• To apply for an EMA you must:– submit the form before 30 September if you are 16
before this date– apply by 29 February if you are 16 after 30 September
West Dunbartonshire Council will post EMA forms to your home!
