Pastoral Message
We are now in the 4th Sunday of Advent. Over the last few weeks, we have heard about St. John the Baptist preparing the way of the Lord, and publicly declaring Jesus as the Lamb of God. As we get closer and closer to the great celebration of the Lord’s birth, we reflect today in our Gospel (Luke 1:26-38) how the “yes” of a simple woman made the first Christmas happen. She could have said “no.” She could have said “maybe.” But she said “yes” to the Lord totally and unconditionally. The gospel this Sunday brought us to the very moment of the Incarnation, the moment on which the entirety of human history turns; the moment the Word was made flesh. It’s almost Christmas and we can say that this year is not the same as the other years because of the pandemic. Externally, not the same. The decorations are minimal. The parties are subdued, the Christmas rush is not much. But perhaps, because of the pandemic, we finally will experience the first Christmas, our Mother Mary’s Christmas. It was poor, simple, quiet, and austere, but it was full of love, joy, hope, and peace. Because of the pandemic, we will experience the real meaning of Christmas, and that is in our hearts!
My dear parishioners of Saint Rita, this Sunday, let us look at Mary. She is the Mother of the Incarnate God, Jesus Christ. She is also our Mother, our Model and our Inspiration. Let us thank God for giving us His Son Jesus and let us do this by imitating the example of Mary in her humble obedience that made her most free from all sins and most free to love God perfectly. WISHING YOU ALL A VIBRANT AND JOYFUL CHRISTMAS IN OUR HEARTS. Father Alex Parafina
Ella podría haber dicho "no".

Advent The season of Advent is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to preparing for the celebration of the Lord’s birth on Christmas and for Christ’s second coming at the end of time. During this time of preparation and expectant waiting, we also remember expectant moth-ers who are preparing for the birth of their children. This Advent season, consider highlighting the article “10 Ways to Support Her When She’s Unexpectedly Expecting.” (It is available in a variety of formats at the bottom of this webpage.)
