What questions & concerns do YOU have about helping immigrants into college?

There is no federal or state law that prohibits the admission of undocumented immigrants to U.S. colleges. (true or false?)

Types of Immigrants Attending College

1. Immigrants bearing a Social Security Card

2. Immigrants with a Permanent Resident Card

(a.k.a. Green Card or A-Card)

3. Immigrant with a Visa (particularly a study

visa)

4. Undocumented Immigrant- Living in the

United States without any form of

immigration documentation

Immigrants With Social Security Numbers

• Not considered International Students, and easily fall between the cracks

• Should take a TOFEL to determine the level of English comprehension

• Important to help ensure success

• Internet Based Test, Paper-based Test (no speaking),

• Reading 60-100 min, Listening 60-90 min, Speaking 20 min, Writing 50 min
