Program OverviewThe Science & Engineering Academy at Edison High School is a demanding four-year program that offers highly motivated students an opportunity to explore their interest in the fields of mathematics, science and engineering.
Students will be exposed to the most rigorous curriculum possible in Middlesex County including a minimum of 11 Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Program Overview
Students take science classes in a 16,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility equipped with laboratory and digital technology used by the industry – including a 3-D printer.
Academic Achievement
100% of our sophomore and junior STEM students are currently ranked among the top 7% of their respective grade level classes.
Academic Achievement
100% of our freshmen STEM students passed the AP Biology exam in 2015, making them eligible to receive college credit for the course.

100% of our sophomore STEM students passed both the AP Chemistry exam and the AP U.S. History exam in 2015.
AcademicsFreshman year starts with a summer program focused on building the firm foundation in Biology needed to tackle AP level content.
Students are introduced to the software used in Intro to Engineering lab.
The Comprehensive Experience
Unlike other STEM programs, students in our Science & Engineering Academy have the advantage of a rigorous academic program within a comprehensive high school.
The Comprehensive Experience
Students take non-STEM classes with the school’s general population, and belong to some of the 51 extra-curricular clubs and 24 athletic programs offered at EHS.

During the four-year program, students will learn the tools to conduct a research project of their choosing related to engineering design, robotics, or technology.

EligibilityThe Science & Engineering Academy will accept up to 24 ninth grade students. It is open to current 8th grade students in all of Edison’s middle schools.Initial requirements include:
• Eligible to attend Edison Public Schools• Honor Roll level achievement in all middle school
coursework • 8th Grade Honors Geometry (full year course)
• Self motivated and independent worker
Application Requirements
• Standardized assessment scores
• Entrance examination• CoGAT (cognitive abilities test)• On-site essay requirement
• Teacher recommendations (3)• Current mathematics teacher• Science teacher• Additional teacher of student’s choosing
Transportation
Accepted students, regardless of the home address, become full time Edison High School students
Bussing – including a “late bus” – is provided according to district guidelines (for students in excess of 2.5 miles from EHS)
