ABOUT US

Our Mission

FisherCARES aims to unite undergraduate business students through service and encourage students to

volunteer. By giving back to the community, FisherCARES seeks to make a difference in Columbus

and throughout the world.

MEMBERSHIP

1) Pre-business or Business Student2) Attend 4 meetings over the year

At least one of these must be a service/social meeting!

3) Participate in 4 volunteering events over the year

Only members are eligible to vote at elections!

FALL SEMESTER SCHEDULE

9/30 – regular meeting 10/7 – Service/Social meeting 10/21 – regular meeting 11/18 – regular meeting

Meetings will be held Mondays at 8PM in SB 105. Pizza will be available at all regular

meetings.

Have a car? Willing to help out on short notice? Sign up on the Drivers List!

Gas Reimbursement $0.40 per mile Email Kendra Gallagher (.575) for more info

A NOTE ON ACCOUNTABILITY

In the case of cancellation, contact site leaders 24 hours prior to volunteering event

No Call No Shows will be penalized with removal of volunteering privileges

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

12 regular sites, occasional one-time service events

Each site has a different volunteering schedule; some go weekly, others bi-weekly, etc.

3 Main categories: Education, Animal Care, and Feeding the Hungry BUT we are always looking for more ways to give

back, so if you have an idea, feel free to reach out

The sites will all be active by our next meeting September 30

LIFETOWN

What: Educate kids with special needs Role-play to simulate real world experience (be a

police officer, a doctor, etc.

WINDSOR ACADEMY

What: Volunteers will tutor elementary school children through various educational activities that the teacher has prepared. This may include reading, word-games, basic math games, etc. This is a great way for volunteers to grow as leaders while also helping children to learn and grow.

BROAD STREET AFTERSCHOOL

What: One on one tutoring with elementary and high school aged kids Help with homework of all different subjects

Where: 15 minutes away in downtown Columbus

What: Help around the shelter and play with the cats

What: Play with dogs in an outside enclosure. Run around, have fun petting and playing with dogs.

What: Help around the farm doing odd jobs, such as cleaning stables and moving food.

What: Serve dinner to the men in need at Faith

What: Sort and pack donated food products to be distributed around 20 Ohio counties

When: 3 times a semester

UNVERFERTH HOUSE

What: Unverferth House is a home for families who have family members in The Ohio State University Medical Center. It is similar to the Ronald McDonald House. We help with yard work as well as indoor cleaning

MEALS ON WHEELS

What: Volunteers will go around to less fortunate communities and drop off food to the senior citizens living there. It's a great way to see the neighborhoods around Columbus and help out those who are hungry.

Where: 670 Harmon Avenue

When: Second Sunday of each month, time TBA

Need about 10 volunteers
