eB ull sale time.... one of our favorite times of the year. So much of what we do, the de-
cisions made throughout the year are based around this event. whether we are on the elusive search for a new herdsire or standing over top of the semen tank scratching our head or walking through a fellow Shorthorn breeders pasture thinking about introducing a new female line into our program.... we ALwAyS have our customers in mind. will these decisions produce a product that has a positive impact on the beef industry and help to put more Shorthorn cattle back into commercial operations? If you are in the beef business, the answer has to be a resounding yeS.
while we do utilize the show ring to market and promote, that same show string comes home to pasture with the rest of the herd and is expected to produce bulls for our bull sale or heifers that will become replacements. They must be easy keeping, big bodied, sound structured, fertile females with above acceptable udders. They need to calve on their own or with minimal assistance for first calvers. If they fail in any of these areas they simply don’t have a place here.
you will notice that we are not offering any females in this year’s sale; we are striving to increase our cow numbers, in doing so we decided to keep all of our replacement females. due to an increase in cattlemen looking to incorporate Shorthorn bulls into their commercial opera-tions, we feel it is important to produce more of the kind of cattle they are looking for.
we strive each and every day to produce a product that excels in all the traits that make Shorthorns the premier choice when it comes to a British based maternally superior beef breed. we look forward to welcoming you on March 19th, if we can assist you in any way please contact us or any of our qualified sale staff.
Sincerely,
Peter & Christine Boake

Fellow cattlemen,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to what is now established as one of the finest bull sales in the Shorthorn breed; ‘The Showcase,’ from Alta cedar and friends. Peter, christine and their crew once again bring you the finest they have to offer. Their herds are some of the best you will find for a balance of traits
that are becoming more and more important to today’s Shorthorn breeder or commercial producer.
At Alta cedar, breed character is very important and that is why the herd is as popular today as it ever has been. Their definition of breed character reaches far beyond the physical appearance of the animal; they truly have de-veloped lineages of cattle that perform in the fashion that stockmen expect from Shorthorns. The cattle calve easy, grow well, and are quiet natured. The heifer calves carrying Alta cedar heritage are tremendous mothers; they milk well, hold their flesh, and breed back quickly. The bull calves that are steered are standouts on feedlot performance and yield heavy, high-merit carcasses. The bulls that have been raised by Peter, and his grandfather before him, add value to the herds that they service. They sire the right kind that turn grass into profit. I know this to be true because I have seen it first-hand --- in my own family’s herd.
There is only one place you need to be at in the middle of March if you’re serious about return on investment. we’ll see you in westerose, Alberta.
respectfully,
Luke Bowman: 614.301.2672Sale consultant

Tandem is an outstanding per-formance sire. ramrod sons have been making a large impact on the industry, very masculine, big
footed and massive in his rib. we have sold Tandem sons and daughters for the past few years and have had rave reviews about them. check out his progeny in this sale and imagine calves like them in your bull pen next year. we are retaining the right to draw Tandem for on farm use only at the sellers expense and the buyers convenience.

Loads of meat in a soft made, super attractive package. our 19G daughter’s are production machines, we will be AI’ing heavily to him again this spring. If your goal is to add milk and a strong maternal edge to your cow herd this would have to be one of the best candidates to do just that.

Given the opportunity to mature, we think this calf will be a show bull candidate. despite his young age we feel he shows huge potential.... and why wouldn’t he, he’s a 47r son! whoever grabs a hold of this calf will see some exciting times ahead. he is made about as complete as one could ask for.
