Hello chapter members.
We had such a great business meeting
and paint-in at our last chapter meeting.
Our main subject was about the seminar we
will be having in October. Members voted to
have two seminars this year because the one
in October with Mark is a colored pencil
class. Many members really wanted to have
a painting seminar as well. Liz is already
working to make this happen. Thank you,
Liz.
Also at our meeting, I brought up the
presidents challenge for
this year. Last year went
so well, I decided to keep
it going. The challenge
is to paint more then
50 items this year.
Because I stopped the
challenge last year in
November, you may
count anything you have
painted since December
to go towards this year’s
challenge.
I have to know who is taking this
challenge to keep track and write it down in
my note book.
There will be a first and second prize.
Last year it was so close for two of our
members. As we all know, Liz won. And she
let everyone know that the only reason she
won is because she was on the holiday
committee and painted a lot for it.
Being on committees really ups your
odds with how much you paint in one year.
So since it’s a new year, sign up to be on a
committee. We had many clipboards going
around for volunteers to help out. If you
haven’t signed up to be on a committee yet,
there is still time to do so. Call one of the
chairs to get on their committee. Find out
who’s heading committees this year by
visiting our website: sstdp.org/about/
committees/.
Also at our meeting, Cathy Frazier
taught a cute bunny on a fabric heart.
Everyone had a great time. Thank you
Cathy for an awesome class. So much
fun. See photos from the paint-in on our
website at sstdp.org/sstdpphotogallery/.
We had some awesome raffles going on
also and made over $100.00 in ticket sales.
That is such a great
beginning for a new year.
We also will be
doing another auction in
October this year. I had
wood pieces for those who
would be willing to paint for
our chapter’s big auction
day. Only had a few people
take some home. They will
be at our next meeting.
Please take home and paint
for us. Last year was such a
great success; I feel it will be even better
this year. Don’t forget to have the wood
piece marked off with Mary Davis before
you take it home.
Speaking about Mary Davis, sending
you well wishes. Get better soon.
Our next board meeting will be
February 2nd at 11:00 at Los Prodos. We
always eat lunch first.
Hope to see you all at our next chapter
meeting. Until then be safe and healthy,
alway smile and be happy too.
Your friend,
Gwen Palmer

Well the new Year has begun and we are already
heading into February. I hope you all enjoyed our January
class. We painted a Debbie Antonic design on fabric.
Everyone’s turned out so cute and I had a lot of fun
teaching. I would like to thank you ladies for taking my
class.
FEBRUARY:
February is going to be another
fun class taught by a wonderful
teacher, Gwen Palmer. It is a Sandra
Malone design and is painted on
whatever surface you decide to paint
it on. Whatever you choose I’m sure it
will be adorable. It’s not too late to
take this workshop. If you are
interested please contact me ASAP.
The fee for this Workshop is $15.00.
MARCH:
In March we have a Blueberry Basket designed by
Susan Scheewe Brown, taught by Patty Clark. This class is a
little different from the norm, it included working with a
texture medium along with the acrylic paint. The price of
this
Workshop is $15.00 so if you feel a
little brave and would like to venture
outside the box this one is for you.
Join in the fun. Patty is awesome with
different mediums.
APRIL:
Ladies, if you would like the
opportunity to meet great ladies and
have a fun time, you might want to join our committee to
help plan our April event. We are going with a Christmas
theme and would like to plan 2 to 3 small projects,
ornaments being part of it. Our first meeting is on Friday
Feb 16th at 11:00 at Gwen’s House . We will be choosing
our projects, favors, etc., so please bring any and all ideas
you may have. Refreshments will be provided. Looking
forward to working with you girls!!!
If you have any questions please feel free to contact
me.
Thank you,
Cathy Frazier
Jan. 13 paint-in, taught by Cathy Frazier. The project was a Debbie Antonic design painted on

Hello painting friends!
The Seminar Committee met for the first time in 2018 on
January 17th in The Tea Room at Prestige at Mira Loma in
Henderson. Beth Buchwald, Sandy Kilgour, Barbara
Paetzel, and Liz Hereld (Chair) were in attendance.
Our discussion included our upcoming seminar with
Mark Menendez, as well as having a second seminar this
year. Liz is already working hard on getting that put in
place.
We also discussed endeavoring to have two seminars
each year going forward. We made personal selections of
teachers we think would be good choices for all our
members. Liz will use the selections as first contacts for
upcoming years.
Please keep your ears, and eyes open for further
information on our Mark Menendez colored pencil seminar
since there are some “other arrangements” that will be
made to accommodate us.
We had great discussions, and agreed that we would meet
monthly - the 3rd Wed. of each month (as necessary), at
Mira Loma. Our meetings will be 11:30 AM until ??.
If you have suggestions and ideas you would like to share,
then please join the Committee by signing up on the
Seminar Sign-up clipboard at the February 10th, SSTDP
Chapter meeting.
See you then,
Liz Hereld

Sadly Peggy Simpson’s husband,
Jim, passed away last week. I do not
believe any of us were prepared for this
news as he had just returned home after
a somewhat lengthy stay in rehab. Our
deepest sympathy to Peggy and family. Please keep them
in your prayers.
Mary Davis is coming along nicely after her hospital
stay for heart related issues. She is regaining her strength
more each day. We all missed Mary at our January
meeting and paint-in and hope to see her very soon.
It seems like Las Vegas is under siege with the flu
and virus hitting so many of our chapter members and
families. One such is Mary Robinson who has had a nasty
bout but thankfully regained her strength and will be
joining us soon. Sharon Shuster was down with
pneumonia but has since bounced back and was in
attendance at January’s gathering. (Just
can’t keep a good gal down!)
Now, for some good news:
President, Gwen, and her husband, Joe,
are celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary, and they
are very pleased to be expecting a granddaughter via their
daughter, Gina Palmer Falcon.
We all welcomed our newest chapter member,
Megan Shuster, (Sharon’s daughter), who joined SSTDP at
our January meeting/paint-in. We are so delighted to
have you with us Megan!
Take care one and all!
Evie Vaccaro
I know it's February and Valentine's Day may be
what's on your mind, but here's a short reminder that the
2018 Holiday committee is having it's first meeting at my
home on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 12:30 till about 3:00
p.m.
Thank you to all who signed up to help us get
started. If you missed sign-up at the last meeting, you can
still join us. Refreshments will be served. If you would like
to bring something to share food-wise, please think "finger
-foods" or salad. Desserts, coffee, tea, and water will be
provided too.
Please look through your books and patterns for
some joyous patterns or themes and bring them to this
meeting. We want to get a running start before Creative
Painting when we can shop for the necessities. Please
R.S.V.P. by email, call, or text me. It's in the directory.
