Towngas has developed a gas pipe repair methodcalled "Smart Riser Jacket" to repair the defective pipewith a UPVC jacket by stopping the pipe fromcontinuing to oxidize and extend the life of the pipe for25 years to achieve sustainable effect. It also eliminatesthe inconvenience caused to the public by interruptingthe gas supply due to the traditional pipe replacementmethod.In addition, a Jacketing Robot is a custom-built roboticsystem to install the Smart Riser Jacket on the corrodedgas pipes which installed at the façade of the building.This Robot replace the technicians to repair the gaspipe at height. The robot will be lifted to the position ofthe corroded pipe by the lifting device, and the rustedsurface will be removed, and the smart riser jacket willbe installed. Operators only need to remotely control therobot at the ground station, it eliminating the risk ofworking at height due to the traditional pipe replacementmethod.
