INTRODUCTION Software used to edit audio files in the

computer. Also called an "audio editor," audio sections can be deleted and mixed, and the pitch, speed and tempo of the material can be modified.

AUDIO DEVICES This devices allow you to play or record

audio which can be a sound or music.

TYPES OF AUDIO DEVICES Microphones: It is a device that changes

information from one form to another.

Loud speakers: It is a device that changes electrical signals into sounds loud enough to be heard at a distance.

Sound cards: It is a peripheral device that attaches to the PCI slot on a motherboard to enable the computer to input, process, and deliver sound.

Sound ports: It is an interface between the computer and other computers or peripheral devices.

Headphones: It is a hardware device that allow you to privately listen to audio without disturbing anyone else.

CODECS The term codec stands for

"compression/decompression." A codec is a specialized computer program, that reduces the number of bytes consumed by large files and programs.

SOUND FORMAT It´s a file format for storing digital

audio data on a computer system. This data can be stored uncompressed, or compressed to reduce the file size.
