Tongues = “by implication a language”

Acts 2:4 “began to speak with other tongues” Other = different

Acts 19:6 “and they spoke with tongues” Paul was at Ephesus He could lay hands on them to give them a gift

This gift of tongues was not muttering or ecstatic noise

Tongues - “The language used by a particular people in distinction from that of other nations. To speak with new tongues which the speaker has not learned previously.”

Unknown - is in italics - indicates it was added by the translators of the KJV

It was an unknown language to those present

As you praise God, do not try to stop stammering. In fact the more you get the words of praise mixed up, the easier it is for the Holy Ghost to take control of your tongue, and speak in unknown tongues.
