Merici Chapel… How many times in your life have you said, “I know I should have called” or “I was busy—I forgot, or I just don’t have the time right now—maybe later.” We could go on and on making excuses for our actions or lack thereof. What excuse will you give to Jesus when you meet Him and He asks, “Why didn’t you stop and see me? I was waiting for you in Merici Chapel, just for us to spend some time together and talk.”
Congratulations and God’s blessings to Erin & David Heston on the Baptism of their daughter, Gwendolyn Rose; to Denyse and David Sinko on the Baptism of their daughter, Patricia Ann.

The 2017 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal is underway with an in-pew commitment process taking
place this weekend. This is not a special collection; rather, the Catholic Charities Annual Appeal represents the chance for all Catholics to make a significant pledge, payable in installments, to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland in order to support its mission of a society that stands united in its support of the "least among us." Many parishioners have received a letter from Bishop Thomas requesting their support. If you have not received this letter, please respond to the in-pew commitment process today! If you have received the mailing, please respond to it. There is a box on the in-pew envelope to indicate that you have responded by mail.
You did it for Me. Your support of the 2017 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal helps us to carry out the mission that Jesus entrusted to us: I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me! Please consider a generous gift that will change the lives of the 400,000 who are served each year in Northeast Ohio. Please pray for the success of the appeal, which provides for essential programs and services in need throughout all eight counties of the Diocese of Cleveland.
On behalf of the poor and needy of Northeast Ohio, thank you! We invite you to view the stories of inspiration and more infor-mation at www.catholiccommunity.org/2017Appeal.

LADIES GUILD DAY OF RECOLLECTION
Monday, February 20th (President’s Day)
Our Day of Recollection will take place on Monday, February 20, 2017 with our speaker being, Father Doug Brown, pastor of our sister parish Mary Queen of Peace. Father's theme will be "Our Lady of Fatima" because this is the 100th Anniversary since her 1st appearance in 1917. What an awesome topic. The day will go as follows:
Lets pack the church and hall for this day. If you have ever heard Father Brown speak, you know we will all be spiritually uplifted and renewed. And the topic - what a better way to honor Our Blessed Mother than to come and listen about her Quest as Our Lady of Fatima.
Remember, this is open to all. Bring a friend, bring a relative, just bring someone. What better gift can you give someone than Our Blessed Mother. For more information call Pam Bennett 440-888-1469 or Pat Lawler 440-843-9186.
8:30 am We begin with Mass in the church.
9:00 - 10:00 am Continental Breakfast will be provided. (pastry, coffee, tea).

Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time February 12, 2017
Dear St. Charles community,
A couple of weeks ago, our family was rocked by the news of the unexpected passing of our son and brother, Tim. The days that followed were obviously filled with unprecedented sorrow and pain, but we also experienced love and support from this parish community that can only be described as overwhelming. Within minutes of the news, our home was filled with friends and family, and the endless stream of prayers began. Since then, we have experienced the most comforting wake, most beautiful funeral Mass, and most welcoming luncheon of our lives.
As many of you have said to us, there are no adequate words. From our perspective “Thank you” does not seem to appropri-ately express our gratitude. In the absence of a better way to say it: Thank you to those of you who put your own lives on hold to provide us with everything we needed those first few days, even when we did not know what we needed. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and generous donations. Thank you to those who anonymously baked cookies and pastry for the funeral luncheon. Thank you to those who had Masses said. Thank you for the food. Thank you for the text messages. Thank you for the somber hugs, and thank you for the comic relief. Thank you for sharing your memories of Tim with us, and thank you for your promises of future company and fellowship.
Because of the prayers and actions of this St. Charles community, the funeral services were more of a celebration of Tim’s life than a simple acknowledgement of his passing, and there is no doubt, that is the way he would have liked it.
As we have looked back on these events, the question has come up: “How could you possibly experience Tim’s wake, Tim’s funeral, Tim’s luncheon and not thank God you are Catholic?” We are so proud to be a part of this amazing community of faith, and we are forever indebted to each of you for your kindness and generosity.
With sincerity and love, Ken, Erin, and Matthew Galla

Helping us will be LifeShare Community Blood Services, a 68-year-old Northeast Ohio community focused charity, committed to making sure that donated blood remains in the community where it was given. LifeShare has been selected by the hospitals of Northeast Ohio as a source of blood and blood components for their patients.
To help encourage blood donations, LifeShare Community Blood Services has initiated an Elementary & Middle School Educational Grant Program. The Knights of Columbus have designated that St. Charles Borromeo to a receive $500 in educational grant funds from Lifeshare for every 25 units of blood collected. Schools that host more than one blood drive may accumulate collections from June 1 through May 31 and $500 will be awarded for each increment of 25 units collected through the school year.
