We greatly appreciate the sacrifice of everyone that has contributed. As a parish we still have a balance due of $33,802. This past weekend we collected $13,423 towards our balance, as a result we are still $20,379 short of our goal of $138,000. The DSF is a simple way to support the outreach of many ministries to the poor and the sick as well as education. Please prayerfully consider being Christ’s hands reaching the needy by making a contribution. You will be blessed for your generosity.

Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Advent
Have you ever felt that when Christmas comes around that you’re just not ready? Of all the liturgical seasons of the year, Advent is certainly the most stressful. But what is the deeper meaning of Advent? In this series, Dr. Brant Pitre shows how a deeper understanding of the ancient Jewish prophecies of the Messiah can help unlock the hidden meanings of the season of Advent. If you’ve ever wanted to be more spiritually prepared to celebrate the birth of Christ at Christmas, this is the Bible study for you, Thursday mornings at 9:30 am, beginning on December 5th to December 19th in St. John. For more information, call Vicky Quiray at 713-774-7475.

ALTAR SOCIETY
The Altar Society needs your help! We’re a small group of women who take turns dusting and doing very light cleaning in the church & chapel once a week on Fridays. It usually only takes each team 30-40 minutes once a month. We take care of the altar cloths, remove spent votive candles and wax from church & chapel, etc. It’s a special joy and blessing to take care of our sacred space. If you think this ministry sounds like some-thing you could participate in email: dan.cathy.suhor@sbcglobal.net or call Cathy Suhor 713-772-9173.
Project Rachel is the confidential and compassionate outreach to women who have had an abortion or been involved in an abortion. Its purpose is to foster reconciliation and healing between the parent and Christ, His Church, the child, and all other significant relationships. Questions, call 713-741-8728.
Responding to the Blessed Moth-er’s call to pray the rosary for conversions and peace, the holy rosary is prayed each morning in the Mary Chapel immediately fol-lowing the 8:15 am Mass along with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We urge anyone who is able to join us in the effort.
