Masses for the Week of May 13 -19
Please join us in praying the Rosary and other prayers every weekday before and after the 8:30 am Mass, Saturday after the 8:30 am Mass, and Sunday after the 8:00 am Mass in the Blessed Sac-rament Chapel.
Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. is Eucharistic Adoration: We can get so busy that we don’t take time to sit down and think a while, pray. Choosing a special time to visit the Chapel on Wednes-day or Friday is a perfect way to let go of all our busy nervousness and rest with Him without distractions.

Ascension of the Lord will be celebrated today, Sunday
The Ascension of the Lord - May 13, 2018 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved. — Mark 16:16 HAPPY ASCENSION DAY: The feast of Ascension is a day
of obligation in the USA. This feast happened on the 40th day after the resurrection of Jesus. It was necessary that the risen Jesus spent some time with his apostles and disciples appearing to them many times to vanish the rumor that his body may have been stolen. The most touching story is how he convinced the doubting Thomas who wanted to see and to touch the risen Lord for himself. Jesus let him do it. With the Feast of Ascension, the mission of Jesus is accomplished. As usual, Jesus prophesied it before it happened so that his apostles may not be surprise, doubt or question anything. (John 14:27-29). “Jesus was lifted up and a cloud took him out of their sight” (Acts 1.9) If you count on your calendar, 40 days after resurrection fell on last Thursday. Some dioceses in America decided to keep the feast of ascension last Thursday. That would mean for those living in those dioceses if they didn’t go to mass on Thursday, the Feast of Ascension, they would have committed mortal sin. Our diocese of Sacramento with many others decided to transfer this feast to the following Sunday when more people would be available without being worried of missing a work day. Last Thursday for us was called Thursday of the 6th week of Easter. If you didn’t go to mass that day, you didn’t commit a sin at all. Did Jesus leave heaven when he came to earth, or did He leave earth when he ascended to heaven. The old catechism said that God is everywhere, in heaven, on earth and everywhere. God is always present with his transfigured body. Our eyes cannot see him. He can appear to those he wants to convey some special message for the salvation of humanity. For example, Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, with the consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sister Faustina with the Divine Mercy message … May 13th is 101th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima as she appeared to the three shepherds Lucio dos Santos, and her two cousins now saints Jacinta Marto and Francisco Marto on May 13th 1917. The message of Fatima is simple. It is about our salvation if we are willing to listen to her messages; or our condemnation if we don’t. The Blessed Virgin Mary is our Mother, the best mother we can ever have. She suffers a lot when we put ourselves in danger by sinning. “My daughter, look at My Heart encircled with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce It at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. Do you at least try to console Me and announce in My name that I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, go to Confession and receive Holy communion, recite the Rosary and keep Me company for a quarter of an hour while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary with the intention of making reparation to Me.” After the 12 p.m. Mass we have a short service in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. I hope and pray you can be present. The closer we are to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the closer we are to her Son Jesus Christ and the better we are in faith.
