Living in God A Pharisee, a lawyer or expert in the law, asks Jesus to identify which of the six hundred thirteen commandments is the most important, an issue that held considerable interest at the time. Jesus’ answer is faithful to his own Jewish faith. He endorses the summons that constitutes the Shema, the most significant prayer of the Israelite religion (see Deuter-onomy 6:5). He insists that the love of God must occupy one’s entire being and not be simply a superficial allegiance. He then adds a second commandment, which is said to be like the first in importance. From this proclamation flows the responsibility to love God with one’s entire being and to love one’s neighbor as oneself. ♦ Does anything prevent you from responding to God’s
love with all your heart, soul, and mind? ♦ Who is the neighbor who most needs your love at this
time? ♦ What do you think God wants most from you? Living the Word

"Eternal Rest Grant Unto Him, O Lord …"
We fulfill the commandment to love our neighbor when we exercise good stewardship --joyfully sharing our gifts & abilities.
Roman Missal Changes - Part I
Family Connection Children learn about love from real, concrete ex-amples witnessed in family life. We can help children to love God and love their neighbors by showing eve-ryday acts of love, generosity, and kindness—our own expressions of our love for God. These acts, small and large, are the expression of what Jesus identified as the two greatest commandments: love God and love neighbor. Make a poster together as a family. Write the words Love God in the center of the poster and write the words Love Neighbor near each of the four sides of the poster. Talk about how Jesus taught us that our love for God is revealed in the love that we show to other people. On the poster, use pictures and words to show some of the ways that your family shows their love for other people

ROMAN MISSAL TRANSLATION UPDATE
Since June, 2011 we have provided in our bulletin several articles focusing on the Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist under the heading “Year of Renewal in Worship and Prayer.” These articles were presented to you as an intro-duction in preparation for the Roman Missal translation. Our Music Ministry has also joined in the effort by gradually introducing the new sung Mass settings, so you can fully and confidently participate in praise and glory by the first Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011. Words to the new text for the sung parts have been provided to you in the front and back covers of our missals found in the pews. Please know the new words to our prayers will also be provid-ed to you in the new missals and in the handy reference pew cards we will make available. In this bulletin issue, please find Part I of the revised prayers noting the old and new text.
