Thank you for purchasing the Audio Enhancement Stand Alone Lecture Capture cabling package!
The following items should be included with your kit:
15-Foot USB to XD Receiver serial communications cable & signal converter
15-Foot stereo audio cable
Used to connect your computer to the communications port on your XD Receiver or BEAM System. This enables use of the REC button on your XD Microphone to start and stop recordings, as well as allows the software to change the LED’s on the front of the XD Receiver or BEAM so you can easily see when the recordings are happening.
This cable is used to connect the line output from your Audio Enhancement Amplifier or BEAM System to the Mic/Line input on your computer. Any audio that is coming through your Audio Enhancement system will then be recorded by the software, as long as you have selected to record audio in the software.
Remote Control Start/Stop Option
You can remotely start and stop your recording from your teacher microphone “REC” button. This requires an optional cable to be connected between your computer USB port and the XD Receiver. The connections are shown below.

Software Setup for Optional Remote Control Cable
1. Plug the USB plug into the computer
2. Right-click on the Windows Icon in the lower left corner of your computer screen. This will open the “Device Manager” window.
3. Make note of the USB Serial Port. In this case it is “COM11”.

4. Click on the Settings Icon to bring up “Edit Quick URL” window.
5. Now click on the down arrow in “Select Device COM Port line and select the COM Port Number that you noted in step #3.
6. Leave the Baud Rate set to 9600
7. Click on green “Save” button
Hint: If the correct COM port is not showing up in the software, close the software from the tool tray (bottom right side of your screen) and make sure the communications cable is plugged into your USB port prior to re-starting the software

Start A Recording: 2 Ways
Starting and stopping recordings from the ‘REC’ button on the XD Mic requires optional USB to RS-232 cable.
Recording LED – on XD Receiver
Power LED on the XD Receiver will change from green to yellow when the recording is active
Stop a Recording: 3 Ways
Starting and stopping recordings from the ‘REC’ button on the XD Mic requires option USB to RS-232 Cable
If you click on the screen outside of the rectangle ‘Stop Recording’ button to access another part of the software program, then simply press on the now red ‘REC’ button to stop the recording.
On the recording screen, click the ‘Stop Recording’ button.
