Having swagger is so 2008. For the ‘09 and beyond, it’s
about being startastic! It’s walking in a room and having
your star power command the crowd. It’s beyond having all
eyes on you. It’s that hypnotizing presence that makes people
want to know who you are.
Maybe you’ve mastered confidence. But being startastic is the
embodiment of being GODfident; letting who you are on the
inside show by how you present yourself on the outside.
Not sure how to tap into your star power? Let the next few
pages help to start you on your way….

how you think that celeb would rock it. With
their style and your vision, the sky is the limit

After all, who said stars have to fit in?
Many of the most stylish women in
the world have not been great
beauties , but have drawn from an
enormous amount of
self-confidence. Same thing goes
with the women on this page.
Their beauty may be up for debate,
but not the confidence they exude.

moisturizer. Place a piece of tape on
both sides of eyebrow coming all the
way down towards the bottom
(side) of the eye. The tape can be
inexpensive like scotch tape, which
does not hurt when pulling it off. Make
sure that you do not place tape on
eyebrows because OUCH! That will
hurt! Apply the desired color using an
eye shadow brush. For a more
dramatic look apply more than one
color; a light color for the lid and a
dark color for the inner crease of the
eye . Use a blending brush (I
recommend MAC 224 blending brush)
to blend both colors . Once colors are
applied, remove tape from each side
of the eye and voila! You should have
the airbrush effect with beauty and
perfection.

STARTASTIC MASCARA TIP
Make sure eyelashes are clean and dry.
Use an eyelash brush to detangle lashes.
Using blue mascara, give fine strokes from
underneath the lash line then begin
to bring strokes to the tip of eyelash.
Wait 2-3 minutes to avoid clumping, then
apply a second coat. To complete the
look, apply black mascara in the same
method as the blue mascara. Make sure
there is no clumping and eyelashes are
free from sticking together using a plain
eyelash brush. The use of the blue
mascara gives the face a more dramatic
look, leaving lashes looking blunt and
thick and making your eyes pop !

Comfortable doesn't have to mean boring. Don't play it too safe. You
should wake up in the morning and be inspired by what is in your
wardrobe: 20 black skirts tend to offer little inspiration; one white beaded
vintage skirt offers a lot.
4 Items your wardrobe should contain: a little black dress, classic white
shirt, fitted dark denim jeans, black high heel pumps.
Trends can be cool, but can also be overrated. If you do happen to fall in
love with a trend, buy it now but wait a few years until it is "out of style" to
wear it.
The best time to buy is when you are travelling - something exotic that
nobody else will have back home and can usually be picked up for next to
nothing, because while fashion may be expensive, style doesn't have to be.
Don’t sleep on flea markets, thrift stores, Goodwill and Salvation Army Don’t sleep on flea markets, thrift stores, Goodwill and Salvation Army
shopping. It’s cool to find pieces from these places that you can bet no one
else will be rocking, and them mix them with something upscale or more
contemporary to create a look all your own.
Unpredictable is what is going to make you look different. Try diamonds
with ethnic beads, stripes and checks, leather and lace, masculine with
feminine. It takes time and trial to perfect but these "imperfect" mixes are
what style is about.
When rocking heels, don't go too high; if you can't walk, you will look
ridiculous. And be wary of teaming very high heels with a very short skirt -
hardly anyone can pull this off without looking tramp-esque.
Think big necklace or big earrings, not both.
Finally, remember style is not about being perfect. Looking like you're
always ready for a photoshoot is not style. Looking like you know how to
live, how to have fun and how to let your hair down is. Practice having a
purposefully deconstructed look; meaning something is always a bit off: Let
your hair be slightly messy, wear unmatching accessories, wear your shirt
slightly wrinkled. Perfection is over-rated. Looking good never is!

"When a guy takes off his coat, he's not going
to fight. When a guy takes off his wristwatch,
watch out!“ - Al McGuire
Men's watches as we now know them were not very popular until
after World War II, when millions of men were issued small
wristwatches by their respective armies as a means of coordinating
missions and generally keeping them organized. After the war, these men
continued to wear their watches -- rather than carry them -- and the global wristwatch market was born.
Since then, advancements in movements and materials have allowed watchmakers to create fashionable,
utilitarian, and elegant timepieces for the various needs (or rather, wants) of men throughout the world.
These advancements have also meant that one can buy an excellent Swiss-made watch for under $500, or a
limited edition watch that can track several time zones at once with depth ratings of over 1,000 feet. Here
we present some watches that will provide a good wrist look at a good wallet price.

There are some in the African-Americancommunity who believe that depression is a sign ofweakness and don’tview depression as a legitimate health concern.African American women may not realize thatdepression is not a weakness, but an illness oftenresulting from various reasons. According to BlackWomen’s Health, “Clinicaldepression is not a “mood” that someone can“snap out of.” Untreated depression is the root ofdisability in women, the main cause of suicide, and
mainstream society. This cultivated stress takes atoll on them and can produce an erosion ofemotional and other physical health dilemmas.
Several factors cause stress in women for instancetaking on too many commitments at church, workor home; suffering financial stumbling blocks; andhaving agonizing disagreements with spouse, children and others. Purchasing a house, buying acar, getting married or having a baby can also bestressful. These situations, whether big or small,

disability in women, the main cause of suicide, andsecond only to heart disease. It is morewidespread in women than in men, as a matter offact, in the United States, the ratio is two to one.
Depression is misdiagnosed and is often anintangible illness for African-American women whoexperience anabundance of depressions and relentlesssymptoms. According to Barbara Jones Warren, author of Examining Depression among African-American women, she states that “If black womenconsult health professionals, they’re frequentlytold that they are hypertensive, run down, needexercise or are tense and nervous. AfricanAmerican women continue to complain of beingtired, weary, empty, lonely, and sad. Other womenfriends and family members may say, “We all feelthis way sometimes, it’s just the way it is for usBlack women.”
Those who have been assessed, said they weretold that physically everything is fine, knowing thatit wasn’t. They are often misdiagnosed, or mayhave withdrawn from treatment because of theirethnic, cultural and/or gender needs have not beenmet and they’re most likely not being available toparticipate in depression research studies.
Involved in multiple roles, many African-Americanwomen have role conflicts between their family’ssurvival and their own developmental needs inorder to make an effort to survive economicallyand improve themselves and their families through

Most of these women are single parents of multiplechildren, they often work outside the home andtend to work a second shift, take care ofhousework, children and older relatives and carrymost of the load financially. It has been proventhat on average women poorer than their malecounterparts, notably single mothers with youngchildren, many of whom don’t receive childsupport, and have to much to do in too little time.
The good news is depression is treatable andthere are combinations of causes that may causepeople to feeldepressed and that someone can’t just snap out ofit but they may need to be assessed and treated.
Children are no exception. Children as young as 3and 4 years old can suffer from this illness.

Thanks to the botched suicide attempt, I was able to understand the cause of all my angst and anguish. Turns out I wasn’t just a weird and emotional creature, but I was suffering from depression.
With group and one-on-one therapy sessions and the right medication, I was able to get on the path to developing wholeness, joy and a positive outlook.

Each summer, Chene Park Amphitheater in Detroit Michigan reserves its Fridays for smooth
soul nights. Recently, I had the pleasure of seeing soulful Jazmine Sullivan open up for the
most amazing white boy singing today, Robin Thicke.
Jaz opened up her set by singing, “Bust Ur Windows”. Her voice is so powerful, I believe she
could do a whole concert without a mic. She freaked the song by performing it to a slower
beat, leaving me actually feeling sympathetic towards her, even though she was busting out
someone’s windows. Toward the end of the song, they turned up the tempo and finished
rocking it out.
Jaz’s look was hot! She strutted across the stage in a pair of black and gold stacked stilettos
that I couldn’t bare to walk in!
Her set wasn’t long, as she was just the opening act but I was glad she performed, “I Want
Your Best Friend….SWITCH!” the one song on her CD that she said, “…didn’t quite fit, but
everyone liked.” It had a totally different feel than all of her songs and added a touch of
diversity to her already great show. Should you get the chance to ever catch Jazmine Sullivan
Robin Thicke and Jazmine Sullivan Concert Review

diversity to her already great show. Should you get the chance to ever catch Jazmine Sullivan
live, you will definitely not be disappointed.
Now, when Robin Thicke hit the stage, screams filled the air! Everyone was on their feet. He
was accompanied by a live band and kick butt female saxophone player that totally earned my
ears’ respect.
He opened with the song, “Magic” and then went right into his older hit
“Want 2 Luv U Girl”. One of my favorites was his performance of “I Want Everything” from his
second album. The Latin beat, vibrant hook and the horns were absolutely amazing.
Of course Robin ripped the keys off his beautiful black piano. In the course of his nearly 2
hour set, he talked about how as he wrote his song, “DreamWorld” Barack Obama had
announced that he would be running for President. He confessed that he thought that would
be a dream deferred, but how excited he is that we are actually living it. My favorite line from
this song? ” I wish the world would treat my wife right
Robin paid homage to the King of Pop by performing “Human Nature” a cappella. He also did
Jodeci’s “Come and Talk to Me” a cappella.
As the show was coming to an end, Robin introduced the band. They all came down on stage,
took their bow, and then ‘A Milli A Milli A Milli’ comes blasting through the speakers, and they
all start dancing while Robin spit some of Lil' Wayne’s verse! GREAT SHOW!!

An elder Native American was teaching his grandchildren
about life. He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me.. it
is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf
represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance,
self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride,
superiority, and ego.
The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity,
humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy,
generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.“

generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.“
"This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other
person, too", he added.
The Grandchildren thought about it for a minute and then
one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee simply replied... "The one you feed."
