DescriptionPopulation balance systems characterizing particulate pro-cesses consist of nonlinear integro-partial differentialequations. Analysis of such systems is carried out tostudy the behavior of population of particles. In a seriesof previous work, an approximated method of moments(AMOM) has been developed for PBM with nucleationand growth phenomenon. In this project the AMOM willbe developed for PBM with aggregation and breakagephenomena additionally. These models are encountered invarious applications mainly chemical engineering, such ascrystallization, systems biology, pharmaceutical, reactiveprecipitation and water processing (among others).

GoalsThe main aim of this research is to investigate the mech-anisms in particulate processes by approximating theaggregation and breakage kernels using orthogonal polynomi-als. Moreover, the closed and reduced order ODE model willbe developed to solve numerically. The goals can be listed asfollowing:

• Approximation of kernels• Development of closed ODE model• Numerical solutions• Application on crystallization processes
