DESCRIPTION
Shopping Mall- Dahshur St.
Citation preview
A building for retail/ culture and art can be conceived, to
my opinion, following two strategies. One is a case modu-lar, a neutral frame to fill with shops, restaurants and cafés. An-
other way to consider the building as part of the artistic values that oc-cur inside the outer loop which are theaters, video rooms and the two
stages for concerts and shows; giving the expressive communicative and evocative features. The case reflects the content. Through the dis-
continuity of the geometry you reach another dimension, a mental dimension, a place symbolically linked to the historical city a
fragment of a bazaar with the sounds of craftsmen and ac-tivities enhancing a unified spirit. Dimensions, spaces
and pathways have been projected to realize a perme-able space, a place for gatherings, meetings and
exchange in other ways a ‘piazza’. Accessible roof gardens were created also act as place
for gatherings in a green atmosphere. It all became the essence of the piazza
as a common space serving the two distinct activities shopping and
attending shows so as to trans-form it into a place of con-
ceptual debate.

Eco-Roof & Roof Garden
Stormwater Management Manual Page 2-37 Eugene 2008
Stormwater Management Goals Achieved Acceptable Sizing Methodologies √ Impervious Area Reduction………………… SIM √ Pollution Reduction………………………….. SIM √ Flow Control……………..…………………… SIM Destination…………………………………… NA This facility is not classified as an Underground Injection Control structure (UIC). SIM=Simplified Approach, PRES= Presumptive Approach, PERF= Performance Approach Note: This facility is an impervious area reduction technique. Its applicability is limited to rooftops or decks above building structures.
The prelimi-nary analysis and 3d stimulations high-
lighted a volumetric and vertical predominance of the topography of the land. The Slabs were
done in a way to allow fluidity and discontinu-ity in the building. The ramps created into the
surface were generated in a way to indicate movement and speed therefore guiding
the people to circulate in the build-ing and enhancing the experience.
The roof gardens covering the ramps/ the building helps to
make the transition from the crowded Cairo to
the new promised a pleasant life
idea.
