Classroom to Courtroom
“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its
ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life
believing it is stupid.” ~ Albert Einstein
This famous quote summarises the dilemma in many of us. At
this crucial juncture, where you need to make a choice
regarding the career you would like to pursue, you may be full of
doubts regarding which stream you should choose, the best
colleges to vie for, entrance exams, areas of preparation, the kind
of jobs it will provide and of course, you have a responsibility to
yourself to make the right choice. Today, a career in law is one of the th best options after the 12 Standard, considering the many opportunities that it offers. The emergence of the National Law Schools, their
world-class education and their national and international campus placements each year, bear testimony to this fact.
A graduation in law offers much more than just practising as an advocate in a court of law or going beyond courtrooms. Law school
graduates now have many exciting career opportunities offered by Indian and International Law Firms, Consulting and Advisory
Companies, MNCs, Corporate Legal Departments, Legal Process Outsourcing (LPOs), etc. In the public sector, options such as the Civil
Services, the Legal Departments, are indeed attractive and rewarding. The more academically oriented National Law School graduates
have joined the world's best universities like Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford and Yale for higher education.
What does Law as a career option after 10+2 mean?
Law is a 5-Year Integrated Programme offering twin degrees such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, BSc. LLB, B.Com. LLB with specialization in Civil
Law, Tax Law, Patent Law, Criminal Law, International Law, Labour Law, Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Law & Corporate/Business Law, etc.
How they pay:
Organizations Salary Band* (` per annum)

MNCs Upto 17 Lakhs
Litigation Firms Upto 12 Lakhs
NGOs Upto 8 Lakhs
*The figures are indicative only and based on broad trends.
It may vary from institute to institute and year to year.
