Why the metaphor?

If we and our advisees know where to find the information we need

and how to use the resources available, then all of us can do our jobs:

How to Read a RACR (10 minute training)

• All Academic Advisors use RACR for academic advising

• RACR, Racer Academic Completion Report, is the degree audit that the Registrar and Graduation Office use to determine progress to graduation

• Your advisee needs to make sure that all information on the RACR is correct and that all coursework is credited appropriately

• Academic Advisors help Advisees ensure that the RACR is correct. AACSB Program Advisors: Refer to CUBA

RACR• Check RACR for accuracy every semester • Course Exception Form is used for course

substitutions, waivers, AAPR (Advisor Approved Electives), etc.

• Error or other problems with a RACR? Contact msu.racr@murraystate.edu

• Need help? Check with your Department Chair or Program Coordinator or email msu.advising@murraystate.edu

• AACSB Advisors: consult with CUBA on RACR

Help Advisees to Plan Ahead

• Prerequisites – know prerequisites and sequence of classes for your program and advise accordingly

• Plans – have advisees complete a degree plan, mapping out courses needed semester by semester – know when courses are offered and advise accordingly

• Progress – “15 to Finish” – advise accordingly -- help advisees set goals to make progress
