Lyndhurst Public School Newsletter

To our wonderful families, carers and supporters,

Community Connections – We are working hard to connect with the community of Lyndhurst. We are planning to establish a community group for young parents and their children each week. This group will run on Fridays from 9.30 – 11.30 am and we hope to have this ready for Term 2. Please share with your friends. Small school = Big Difference – LPS was successful in obtaining a Sustainability Grant from the Department of Education. The aim of our project is reducing the use of single-use plastics across the school and community. We will be sharing more details as we head towards Term 2, when the project is expected to start.

Flicks in the sticks – Our P&C are planning a community movie event right here in our school grounds. All students have voted and we are excited to see which film was the most popular choice. Please come and join us on Saturday 22nd March from 6pm onwards. More information to come soon.

Parent/ teacher interviews – due to the close-knit nature of our school, we invite families to make a time to come and meet with Emma or myself over the next few weeks. Teachers will contact families and arrange a mutually suitable time.

School photos - information on how to order school photos online will be coming home with each child today. We think that they’re lovely!

I will be taking the last four days ofthis Term, as leave. Mrs SharonStanley will be our Relieving Principal. I am hoping that the coronavirus will be a little more under control by then, otherwiseI may just be staying at school :)

Have a fabulous week –

Mrs Christine KovacPrincipal

Get ready for The Big Vegie Crunch! On Thursday 5th March at 10 am our school will be joining hundreds of schools across NSW to break the record for the most students crunching vegetables simultaneously.

But we need your help to make it a success!

On Thursday 5th March, please pack your child a container of vegetables for them to crunch on.

Need some ideas? • carrot, celery, cucumber – cut into sticks or left whole• capsicum – cut into sticks or wedges• corn – raw baby corn spears or a cooked corn cob • broccoli or cauliflower florets - raw or lightly cooked to keep their crunch• tomatoes – small cherry tomatoes or a large tomato that can be eaten like an apple• beans or snow peas - raw or lightly cooked to keep their crunch• mushrooms – sliced or left whole

If you require more information on The Big Vegie Crunch, please contact the school or your child’s teacher.
