CAHSEE Overview

The first opportunity students have to take the CAHSEE is in grade 10.

Students have additional opportunities to take the part(s) of the CAHSEE not yet passed throughout high school

Students shall retake only the portion(s) of the exam not previously passed

GPA calculated beginning in 10th grade for approved “a-g” courses only

Minimum GPA required for CSU Eligibility is a 2.7, competitive GPA is a 3.2 or higher

Minimum GPA required for UC Eligibility is a 3.0, competitive GPA is a 4.0 or higher

Additional grade points given for grades of C or better in approved Honors or Advanced Placement Courses and transferable college courses

Eligibility vs. Selectivity

Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission

To be selective in the admissions process, it is recommended that students complete additional college preparatory coursework

For selectivity, GPA and test scores need to be above minimum requirements

Private Colleges and Eligibility

Check with each college for specific subject and testing requirements

Generally speaking, meeting eligibility requirements for CSU & UC satisfy the requirements for private colleges

Private colleges use “comprehensive review” to admit students
