The Boy on the Moon

by: Matthew Manos

I watched my dad as he took off to space. I sat and wondered if I could

go to the moon.My name is Scott. This is a story

of a kid wanting to go to the moon.

I’ve tried to make my own spaceship. I used card board,

tape, chewing gum and firecrackers, but nothing worked

out.

Once I tried you make a sling shot with a lot of rubber bands

between the two tall trees in my yard.

It broke and I got a boo boo. OUCH!

Well although plans fail, I'm going to keep trying.

One day I'm going to be on the moon.

I’ve counted the days until my dad comes back. I miss him

sometimes. I look up at the stars wondering if he looks back down

at me.

It’s been two years since I have seen my dad. In five days, he

comes back from space. I can’t wait to hear about his trip!

So today is finally the day my dad comes back from the moon! I'm

so excited to see him.My dad is my hero and I want to

be like him someday.

My dad landed back on earth. As he stepped out of the spaceship I gave him a big hug.

Later that day we had a big dinner for everyone and their

families who went to space. That night, my dad told me stories of his time in space, and he gave

me a moon rock.

One day I hope to be just like him.

Years later, I did I grow up and became an astronaut and finally

went to space.
