Principal’s Report
Health Expectations
If your child is unwell with a sore throat, cough or any cold or flu-like symptoms, please
do not send them to school. During this exceptional period in the COVID-19 health
dilemma, we must all be vigilant and ensure we follow the NSW health guidelines. I do
understand how difficult it can be to keep your child at home with a slight sniffle or sore
throat, but we must put our school and the community first.
We thank you for your consideration. We want to keep Forestville Public School a safe
place to be.
Moving forward to Term 3.
With the Department of Education’s release of the new guidelines for all schools
beginning last week, we are extremely happy to have our band, strings and choirs start
up again and be able to plan for incursions and field trips next term. Teachers are in the
throes of working with the Area PSSA to arrange the sporting competitions that will occur
in Semester 2 with other schools so we will have news about these arrangements soon
also.
From Term 3, schools can resume the following:
All school sport and activities including competitions as long as these meet current
health advice.
Inter-school events and competitions.
SRE/SEE voluteers return to site
Work experience students/ Practicum Teachers.
P&C meetings – with a strong preference for on-line where possible.
Parent/teacher meetings – where these need to take place – with a strong
preference for on-line where possible unless involving serious matters that require
face to face.
Principal’s Report
Stay well, stay safe and take care
Many thanks for your support,

Opportunity Class 2021 – Applications close 26 June 2020.
Please see previous newsletters for details. ALL APPLICATION MUST BE
COMPLETED ONLINE!
Canteen
Munch Monitors orders only for morning tea and lunch for the remainder of this term.
Students are not able to do across the counter purchases until the start of next term
(Tuesday 21 July). Tania and Kim, our canteen coordinators will be very grateful for the
return of all volunteers next term.
It is important not to become complacent. All activities on school sites must occur in line
with existing infection control procedures and the additional health, safety and distancing
requirements outlined in the AHPPC Guidelines or in NSW Health advice. Non-essential
visitors are still not allowed on site or at events – this includes parents/carers. We will
therefore continue our current student only entry into school in the morning and
staggered K-1 parent pick up only in the afternoon, until further notice.
Community use activities involving general adult attendance – eg: Jazzercise.
We have not been given approval for school camps, excursions, larger assemblies with
parent involvement, parent volunteers in classrooms or larger community events yet, but
we will hopefully know a great deal more beginning 21 July (Term 3).

LONG REEF AQUATIC RESERVE – COLOURING
COMPETITION
The Long Reef Aquatic Reserve is turning 40 this year and we would like you and your
students to help us celebrate.
We are holding a colouring competition for children aged from 4 – 12 years to help them
learn more about the Long Reef Aquatic Reserve. As well as the colouring competition, we
are asking the children to inspire us with a sentence about how they will help look after
Long Reef Aquatic Reserve, now and into the future.
The competition is open to the following age groups:
•4 to 6 years
•7 to 9 years
•10 to 12 years.
First-place prize for each age group is a voucher for a Merlin Annual pass valued at up to
$500.
Second-place prize for each age group is a $250 voucher for the Long Reef Surf shop.
Third-place prize for each age group is a $100 voucher for art and craft supplies from
Eckerleys.
The pdf of the colouring competition can be found on the following link: Long Reef Aquatic
Reserve Colouring Competition.pdf
And here is a link to the web page as well: www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/long-reef-anniversary
The Terms and Conditions are on the back of the colouring-in drawing and a place for the
parent/carers approval signature. Entries can be sent electronically to
marine.environment@dpi.nsw.gov.au or a hard copy can be mailed to “DPI Long Reef
Aquatic Reserve 40th anniversary” at PO Box 5106 Wollongong”.
