Christ’s Hospital School
The impressive spires and cloisters of Christ’s Hospital School invoke a rich history
that permeates the landscape.
An education in TRANQUILLITY
The school was established in 1552 by King Edward VI in London, moving to its current home in West Sussex in 1902. To this day, pupils are instantly recognisable by their Tudor uniform of blue frock coats and yellow stockings.
The original Christ’s Hospital Settlement consisted of the grand school buildings, many of which are now listed, and a handful of Arts & Crafts homes all designed by architect, Sir Aston Webb. Following gradual residential expansion the Christ’s Hospital Settlement has grown into a small but tightly-knit community with the area maintaining a sense of open space and rural tranquillity, offering access to a country lifestyle that is well connected to the urban centres of London and the South East.

Live a fulfilled lifestyle in an area blessed with abundant cultural attractions and places to
enjoy the year round.
Horsham and beyondHIGHLIGHTS & HIGH-LIFE
Out & About in HorshamThe picturesque market town of Horsham is the nearest major centre to College Grove. Steeped in history, the town is defined by its charming passageways (known locally as the twitterns) and the Carfax, a large, open, pedestrianised square which provides a venue for regular markets selling local produce and a sensational selection of street food. Horsham is also home to many high street stores and two large shopping centres yet retains a reputation for independent shops and boutiques that attract visitors looking for something more unique.
Cultural attractions here are plentiful with Horsham Museum and Art Gallery being a particular highlight. The museum houses more than 26 galleries featuring a cornucopia of exhibits. Lovers of stage and screen are well catered for too at the Capitol Arts Centre, home to a 410 seat theatre, two screen cinema and gallery space.
Horsham surprises for a town of its size when it comes to dining with a diverse variety of cuisine on offer from fine dining to more casual bistro fayre. A particular highlight is Carmela, an authentic, independent Italian restaurant located in a 16th century building in Denne Road. The town is also home to an array of traditional pubs and contemporary wine bars to compliment the range of dining on offer.
Further AfieldThere can be few destinations in the region to rival Leonardslee House. The early 19th Century Italianate style house and gardens has recently undergone a major restoration and reopened in April 2019. The gardens now home to a new visitor café and a fine dining restaurant fronted by culinary master Jean Delport.
For a day out with a bit of fizz the Bolney Wine Estate welcomes visitors to drop in and experience their beautiful vineyard and sample their award-winning wines. A café, restaurant and bar (with an impressive viewing balcony) offer delicious home-cooked dishes paired with award-winning wines.
The Bluebell Railway is famed as one of the best family days out in the country. This faithfully restored heritage line runs regular steam powered services along an 11 mile stretch taking in some of the most beautiful countryside in Sussex. Why not “do it in style” and upgrade to the first class dining car where you can enjoy a delicious meal as you watch the world go by.

The Downs Link Bridleway Situated almost equidistant from the High Weald AONB, Surrey Hills AONB and the South Downs National Park, College Grove offers access to some of the finest rural vistas the South of England has to offer. The Downs Link, a 37 mile bridleway passes through the development anchoring it to these landscapes and the surrounding countryside.
The Downs Link route connects a variety of wild habitats, taking in banks of wildflowers, trees, hedges, woodlands, rivers, ponds and streams. Butterflies, such as Fritillaries and Peacocks, are a common sight in summer months, as are Kingfishers hovering and swooping over rivers and wetland areas.
At West Grinstead Old Station, a short stroll from College Grove, a restored railway carriage operates as an information centre for the Downs Link and surrounding area.
