The Miracles of JesusJesus Calms the Storm

New Testament Mark’s Gospel

The Value of Peace

In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and

John, there are 35 different stories telling us about the miracles that

Jesus performed.

Miracles are events that happen, that are so amazing, they are difficult to believe if

you didn’t see them for yourself.

Jesus’ miracles involved;

• Healing

• Raising the dead

• Using nature

• Casting out demands

Welcome Words

We have gathered together to worship God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

and to learn about how Jesusbrought calm in the middle of a storm.

This week we are thinking about the value peace.

Challenge 1

We have had some beautiful weather over the past couple of weeks. Look at the weather for the next few weeks.

What do you do when it us raining? What do you do when the sun is shining?

Click and listen to the story from Mark’s Gospel.

Look at the waves…I think it is pretty stormy.

Who is in the boat? How do you know which figure is

Jesus? Why do you think the three figures

are all turned to face Jesus? What is the first seated figure doing? What do you think Jesus might be

saying? Why do you think the artist He Qi

has included a dove carrying an olive branch in his beak?

Challenge 2

Sometimes we experience stormy times in life, when things don’t seem to go right and we can feel quite sad.

During other times we can feel very happy and times feel much brighter,

just like if the sun was shining.

Sometimes when we feel sad, because something has happened that has hurt us, we can feel like God doesn’t care and he’s

fallen asleep.

Christians believe that although they may experience sad times, God is there to help us get through it…not to make it not happen

or to make it go away.

To get through stormy times we may ask our family and friends for

help.

If you are on your own and nobody is around to help, then you can find peace by sitting

quietly and still.

Challenge 3 – A little bit of calm during stormy times

Sit in a quite place. Close you eyes and breathe in and out. Light a candle. Listen to the music…peacefully.

Jesus is sometimes know as ‘The Prince of Peace’. His disciples shouted out to him when they were scared. Jesus wants us to know that, when we face

tough and challenging times we too can ask him to help us.
