WR 2000 – a winner in its class, and becoming indispensable
The WR 2000’s working width of 2 m and working
depth of 500 mm make it the smallest model in the
range of powerful Wirtgen cold recyclers and soil stabilizers.
Nevertheless, there is no need at all for it to hide away from
the big jobs. Quite the opposite is true: Its broad range of
applications, economical mode of operation and free-view
concept are application-related advantages that make the
WR 2000 stand out favourably against comparable machines
in this market segment. The machine’s hallmark, however, is
its exceptional mobility: As it is easily and quickly transported
from one job site to the next, the compact WR 2000 is
available for many jobs on different job locations.
The mobile top performer feels at home on all kinds of job sites

Compact transport dimensions enable the machine to
be transported between job locations without requiring
a special permit.
The operator’s platform can be displaced laterally
beyond the machine edge, providing an optimum
view of the operating area.
The WR 2000 doesn’t show the slightest signs of weak-
ness even in difficult terrain, owing to its all-wheel drive
and individual wheel suspension at the machine frame.
Hydraulically adjustable lifting columns guarantee
maximum ground clearance at all times.
Manoeuvrable andeasy to transport
The powerful stabilizer is equippedfor a large variety of applications
Big advantage when milling innarrow places: The wheels on theright, zero clearance side travelinside the working width
Always up to the mark with 4-foldlifting column design
Its sturdy machine frame is the made-to-measure suit
of our cold recycler and soil stabilizer WR 2000. It is
ideally tailored for excellent all-terrain mobility and large
ground clearance. The four wheels are suspended individually
at the frame, and the machine can be levelled to the required
height via four hydraulically adjustable cylinders. The milling
and mixing rotor can be adjusted via a massive crank, while
the rotor housing is rigidly attached to the chassis.

The recycler’s short, raised front part enables it to
master even extremely steep slopes effortlessly.
The 4-fold lifting column design ensures a consistent
working depth even in undulating terrain.
Smooth machine behaviour is additionally guaranteed
by the stable rotor assembly.
Hydraulic cylindrical columnsguarantee ground clearance

The front part: tailored to accurate fit for steeply inclining slopes
Flexible operator’s platform providesbest possible view
The ingenious free-view concept implemented in
the WR 2000 fully satisfies even highest demands.
The operator’s cabin can be displaced far beyond the right
edge of the machine at the mere push of a button. Com-
bined with the fully glazed cabin, this feature provides a full
view of the surrounding area of operation and in particular of
the milling edge. Expensive additional work steps that would
normally be required in difficult sections can therefore be
reduced to a minimum.
Free view even in tricky situations

Milling edge always in full view
A free view of the surrounding area enables the recycler
to be driven swiftly and safely past any obstacles or
narrow places.
A full view of the milling edge permits precise milling
flush to kerb.
Mirrors on both sides of the recycler provide a good
view of critical points, supporting the work of the
machine operator.

The hinged window allows the operator to be even closer
to events on the job site
Ergonomics is high on our list of priorities
Wirtgen’s design engineers have taken the offensive
yet again with the ergonomical design of the WR 2000.
All control elements in the recycler’s cabin are arranged per-
fectly and in an ergonomically optimized manner. The clearly
structured Cockpit Graphic Centre (CGC) is located within
the operator’s immediate field of vision and is height-ad-
justable. The steering wheel can also be adapted individually
in height and tilt. But there’s even more: The seat console
with related instruments and CGC can be swivelled by up
to 90°. All these features help to tailor the workplace to
accurately fit the needs of the machine operator.
Superior equipment makes easy work

The swivelling seat console permits the machine
operator a free view to the rear while maintaining an
ergonomic sitting position.
All important control elements are located in the
left-hand armrest.
The air-conditioning and heating systems ensure
convenient working in the cabin, independent of
weather conditions.
The cabin’s soundproofing protects the machine
operator against any unwanted engine noises.

Perfect handling, single-handedly
Manoeuvrable and compact: two highly effective features
The WR 2000’s compact design holds lots of potential.
Its transport height of 3 m, width of 2.55 m and low
weight enable the machine to be transported from one job
location to the next quickly and easily on a low-loader. A
particular highlight: The machine does not require a special
transport permit, which pays off in higher daily production
rates instead of annoying and time-killing authorization proce-
dures. Yet another ace is the recycler’s manoeuvrability and
excellent all-terrain mobility. Different steering modes underline
its exceptional manoeuvrability. It can for, instance, be steered
with the front axle, the rear axle, in crab mode or in the
so-called “co-ordinate mode” where both axles are steered.
Goes on every type of low-loader
10 // 11
As transport poses no problem, the machine is
moved to the next job location quickly and is thus
utilized efficiently at all times.
Owing to its outstanding manoeuvrability, the WR 2000
presents itself at its best when approaching obstacles
or when working in narrow bends.
Different steering modes are available and can be chosen
in accordance with the type of work to be carried out.
The machine’s compact design and low height provide
the operator with an even better view of the work area.
Mobility guaranteed
Loaded quickly, special transportpermit not required
Coming on strong: turning radius of less than 4.50 m
Superior ease in open ground
The WR 2000 always wins the upper hand when work-
ing in open ground. Its powerful, permanent all-wheel
drive prevents the stabilizer from getting bogged down even
when working in deep or soft soils. We have additionally
equipped the machine with hydraulic lifting columns to en-
sure large ground clearance. All four wheels are suspended
to the machine frame individually and can be adjusted in
height independently. In this way, the machine can always
work “in balance” or with the desired inclination. Additionally
supported by a hydraulic differential lock, the WR 2000
demonstrates perfect traction properties and is thus the
ideal partner in difficult terrain.
All-wheel power prevails in muddy terrain

clearance
Their elevated position prevents the working cylinders
from getting soiled, which ensures improved operational
readiness.
The recycler is equipped with finger-light hydraulic all-
wheel steering, enabling it to be manoeuvred easily
even in extremely confined conditions.
The machine’s excellent traction meets all demands,
in particular in soil stabilization.
Large anti-skid wheels support the machine’s
outstanding all-terrain mobility.

The WR 2000 meets evenextreme conditions
Variable mixing capacity – an ingenious recipe for success
One feature speaking in favour of the WR 2000 that
carries a lot of weight with experts is the recycler’s
variable mixing chamber. It meets a requirement which is of
crucial importance for both cold recycling and soil stabiliza-
tion: All construction materials must be mixed very thoroughly
as only a homogeneous mix will be able to meet the high
demands placed on high-quality base layers. The basic
principle is as ingenious as it is simple. The housing of the
milling and mixing rotor is rigidly attached to the chassis.
The volume of the mixing chamber above the rotor increases
automatically to the same extent that the rotor penetrates
the ground below.
Consistently high quality, irrespective of the working width
14 // 15
The variable mixing chamber can be relied upon to
prevent production losses caused by obstructing mix.
The crusher bar at the front supports thorough granula-
tion and prevents slabs from breaking out of the asphalt
pavement.
The scraper blade can be guided conveniently to ensure
thorough mixing.
The scraper blade can be locked at any given height
or can be pressurized and made to glide on top of the
recycled ground in a floating position.

Optimum mixing chamber sizefor any given working depth
Mature milling technology produceshomogeneous mixes
All recyclers made by Wirtgen feature a powerful
milling and mixing rotor which guarantees that even
extremely heavy soils are mixed thoroughly and homoge-
neously. Naturally, the same also goes for the WR 2000.
The recycler’s high-performance rotor is driven by a direct
mechanical drum drive which is, in turn, powered by a
robust 6-cylinder straight diesel engine. This tried and
tested design, which avoids deflection points and friction
losses, is reflected in consistently high efficiency.
Optimum mixing generates high bearing capacity
16 // 17
Four different rotor speeds enable the machine operator
to choose the speed most suitable for the job at hand.
The power belt absorbs any peak loads and guarantees
low susceptibility to damage.
The WR 2000’s centre of gravity is located favourably
close to the rotor, thus providing a high load that results
in high productivity.
The rotor permits milling in both up-milling and down-
milling mode in accordance with the recycler’s direction
of travel.

Quick-change toolholder system HT11reduces operating costs
The WR 2000 is fully geared to meet all challenges in
field operation. Both the intelligent arrangement of the
tools on the rotor and the ingenious tooling of the rotor
edges boast excellent milling power. The cutting tools are
highly wear-resistant and impress with their exceptional
durability and penetration capability. Replacing cutting tools
quickly: Useful options, such as the combined pneumatic
cutting tool driver and extractor or the hydraulic drum turn-
ing device, support the machine operator and help to speed
up his work considerably. The patented quick-change tool-
holder system HT11 keeps operating costs low, thus ensuring
an even more economical operation of the entire machine.
Working like a clockwork with tried and tested technology
18 // 19
The quick-change toolholder system HT11 is available
as an option but should be a “must” in any specification
because of its high efficiency.
Different cutting tools are available for the different ap-
plications of the cold recycler, underlining the benefits of
the quick-change toolholder system.
The cutting tools are of particularly robust design, which
makes them ideally suited for the toughest applications.

Precise metering of the binding agents is of crucial im-
portance for a consistently high quality of the mixing
results. Metering is effected via high-quality microprocessor
units, and the binding agents are then added to the mix by
means of robust injection systems. The recycler can
process water, bitumen emulsion or foamed bitumen, which
are delivered in tanker trucks coupled to the recycler and are
transported to the injection systems via hose connections.
All components transporting the hot bitumen that is required
for the production of foamed bitumen are, of course, heated.
In this way, all components have the required temperature
all the time, and flushing the system is not necessary, which
saves time and money.
Intelligent technology ensures precise metering
20 // 21
The injection systems can be adjusted to the required
width when injecting the binding agents so as to
precisely match the mixing width.
The integrated water tank – which is an exceptional
feature in this machine class – supplies the water
needed for the foamed bitumen production.
An additional water tank with a capacity of 600 litres
(optional) supplies water for the production of large
quantities of foamed bitumen.
The injection nozzles are cleaned automatically,
ensuring permanent operational readiness.

Smart details save money and make easy work
The WR 2000 surprises with a wealth of practical func-
tions that are reflected in considerable overall time and
cost savings – day after day. One strong point, for instance,
is the fact that the wheels on the right side, which is the zero
clearance side, travel inside the working width, enabling the
recycler to mill flush to kerbs or walls. This clearly is worth-
while. Precise milling flush to kerb and a full view of the
milling edge dispense with costly manual reworking.
Yet another highlight: The WR 2000 features various steering
modes, enabling it to work in both directions of travel.
The advantages of this feature are obvious, since idle runs
or turning manoeuvres are avoided.
Cost advantages are in the details
Milling depth display for staffworking at ground level
Optional high-pressure water washdown to clean the machine quicklyevery day
The wheels on the right, zero side travel inside the
working width (milling edge)
22 // 23
The milling and mixing rotor is located in a convenient
position, making sure that the soil is treated flush to
kerb.
The wheels below the cabin or behind the rotor can
function as a steerable front axle, depending on the
direction of travel.
Large, wide opening service flaps enable fast and easy
access to the engine, pumps or points of maintenance.
The diesel engine complies with the strict exhaust
emission standards stipulated by the US Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA, Tier III) and the EU (EU-97/88/
EG Stage IIIa).
