MOULD EXPERIMENT

Purpose/ Goal

The purpose of my goal is to determine which types of bread will grow the most mould

THE VARIABLES

The variables that I used were Sake, scotch whiskey, Liquor, beer and Brandy wine. The type of bread I used is whole wheat bread

How I controlled my experiment

I controlled my experiment by using only whole wheat bread and putting it in a plastic bag

Hypnosis

If red wine is poured on bread it would grow the most mould because mould needs sugar .

Procedures

First pour the alcohol on the bread and then put the bread into a plastic bag

MATERIALS / EQUIPMENT• Brandy wine

• Scotch whiskey• Sake • Beer• Liquor• Whole wheat bread• Zip lock bag

Week one

This is the first day so there is no mould

There wasn’t really a change but there’s a little mould in the control bread and threads on the sake and liquor.

Week Two

Week Three

Although you can’t see it in the pictures the control bread started to turn very white and grow green mould. The sake and scotch whiskey began to grow white threads on them like spider webs.

Week Four

This week the brandy wine has really deep holes in them and the control bread turned white and grew mould on the sides. The scotch has little white fungus on the side.

ConclusionThe mould on my bread turned out to very little. I think the reason the mould did not grow a lot is because mould does not use alcohol as a food supply. In the end my hypothesis was wrong because the red brandy wine bread did not grow the most mould. The mould growth did not turn out to be a lot. I was surprised that the control bread grew the most mould.
